189 that’s enough to pressure the Aussies imo

Met office forecast for Sunday now matches that of Saturday, and for both days with the BBC.

Don't like markets that don't even flinch at a wicket.

Not an awful lot of incentive for Aus to take this last wicket imo

Ish thinks the more runs the better for England. I reckon Aus would be happy enough being 450 behind at stumps.

I can't agree with this at all, the Aussies should be batting now.

Where the weather and situation gave England complete freedom...

The precise opposite could be the case for Australia.

They now have everything to lose.

They'll struggle not to have an eye on the weather at all times and it also feels as though they can only be trying 'not to lose', which is a psychologically difficult way to approach anything.

Any thoughts on the weekend forecast? BBC weather indicates a washout

Whatever else, we should all enjoy the fact that we are watching an England side capable of having Australia...

...batting for a second time...with a deficit of 275...before tea on the third day...despite Australia having scored 300+ in their first innings. Shocked

most models seem to have Saturday very bad, Sunday a bit more mixed but worse than it was this time yesterday...both met office and metcheck are worse than they were though 2 days out that's open to change of course...

Forecast looks pants on the apps I use, oddduck.

Looks more patchy on Sunday, but I guess it depends on how much has come down as to whether they can get on if any gaps to materialise.

Will be such a shame if this series, of all series, is ultimately decided by rain.

Can't see what/why it is but Anderson has looked so unthreatening against left handers this series.

If we have them 4 down by close we should do it providing we get a decent Sunday

I think we're seeing the decline of Smith this series, hasn't looked anywhere near good enough for the most part this series at least

Get Labus and it's on

We just need another and then it's almost into their soft underbelly

I'm still a little miffed he scores so many with that technique of his Smith

He's all over the place

Someone else said it on here the last time they toured here in 2019

You're naming one of the greatest of all time. Most of his contemporaries struggled. Look at the numbers.

Plenty can play it well, most can't. Any era, any format, any bowler. There is a reason many of the great bowlers have been quicks. This is cricket.

Impressive to watch this match and find negatives. Shoot me now.

After yesterday's play, your input was something about not liking the radio commentary.

You'd just watched England score ~400 runs in a day, to keep an Ashes series alive.

Be horrible to be denied by rain now

We deserve to level this and take it down the final furlong

2-2 would be a fair reflection after four tests, we've been fantastic this test but the Aussies have been more than a match up to this point, you can't say it's been boring it's been one of the best series when you look past the in play bias, ie throwing a hissy after a loss for example.

Hindsight will put this series in the top 3 for me IF it goes to the final test decider

We do enjoy great series here

It's a pity the Aussies get foregone conclusions when we rock up in there yard Laugh
