I know these teams get on with it, but weather forecast is an absolute shocker. Possible loss of at least two days. Surely the draw might come into play.....

Rain most of today, then a bit mixed. Should get 400 overs in which will most likely mean a result.
6/4 each of two. 3/1 draw. Probably be a wicket to bowl first and bat last on, but you can't do both. Good toss to lose! |

Too difficult to call. Now Gary is out the teams are evenly matched in home conditions. Their batting remains brittle under cloud as does ours. A faster pitch will conversely even things up for our bowlers, Anderson being the main beneficiary. I can see a draw if it is a good pitch with the weather. Looking forward to another great contest. |

And why on earth do we have hold ups over sightscreens on Test pitches? Have they not had 100 years to work out where not to allow the public to sit or move? It is quite inexplicable.

Smith might have gone if Wood had not been stood 10 yards in from the boundary rope.
Just don't know why do that, if you stand on the rope it is easier to come in and take a catch than have to go back. Schoolboy error in Test Cricket. |

Possible caveat (but I doubt the thing pushing the price too low) being that England will go GUNG-HO in their digs, which brings in very low totals. |

reading some comments tonight on BBC website where Michael Vaughn saying Tongue would have been sensational on this surface but England were being sentimental by picking Anderson .. i tend to agree
just hope england get close to parity on 1st innings scores to create a one innings shoot out if weather permits it |

all about opinions of course...but I actually think Anderson has had a massively unfair appraisal of his efforts all series..
he's bowled well, largely economically, had chances put down all whilst being asked to bowl a more attacking length which the surfaces have not really made realistic for the most part...and limited reverse swing for all in the series (one of his obvious arts)... |

If, and that's a big if, the weather forecast is correct we'll be lucky to get any more than 180 overs. Given that it's a decent wicket is there any chance of any result other than a draw ?

Important session this afternoon, if England can get to 150-170 with 8 or 9 wickets in hand by Tea, we could see them open up to try and get to a position of strength. Important they make lunch here still with only one down
