especially when it keeps going to the boundary of course...

can't be too many instances of a side being 12-3 and going on to score 500

A bunch of elderly bowlers and inexperienced batsmen is hardly encouraging for the future. England need to find 2 opening batsmen, a wicketkeeper, 2 more fast bowlers and a spinner to match Australia, India or South Africa. When I turned on 5 live this morning with Aus 85-4, Agnew was talking about bowling them out for 150! Now the prospect of another wicket is looking remote.

'remote'?!..ur being overly optimistic

Robinson still not bowled since coming back on to field (injury) - Rooty bowled 8 overs already...
By:
It’s been a horrible series
Bowlers are just toothless against a batting unit that’s overrated in my opinion Smith is definitely on decline as well |
By:
Woakes and Wood when the ball was still hard bowled very poorly.. (well though Head and Marnus counter attacked) that and the early drop of Marnus pretty critical..
since then despite the colour of the surface not been that much in it and Robinson still not been able to bowl which hasn't helped but yep agree it's a line up you should be able to get stuck into and we rarely have - much as the focus has been on our batting ...both facets have come up well short... |
By:
might be batting against the new ball late on here...
By:
remarkable amount of missed play for so little rain...early start tomorrow
By:
arguable whether woakes should ever be considered away from home again. he's literally been playing cos he might get 20 at number 8 in this series. certainly ain't been for his bowling

It has been a torrid time for a few, Pope and Burns very fortunate to get another go.
Career ending series for quite a some for sure. Starting with Silverwood. Hameed finished. Butler has to go. Both spinners. The rest will be biting their nails with the exception of Root and Stokes who should become Captain and V. Captain. Chances now for a few Lancashire players, Livingstoe, Parkinson and Bohannon. Cannot do any worse. |
By:
Another reason why Burns should not be in the team.
Apart from poor technique sadly he has sheite bad luck. |
By:
Poor backing up too. Sometimes you make your own luck and if he had backed up further he would have been in. The early stutter didn’t help either.
29-2 we have been here before. That was bad luck too. Excellent catch |

I know why I haven't been getting up too early.

chance for Billings to be a hero...
I reckon a fluent 23... |
By:
On the plus-side, quite like hearing David Gower again on commentary.
(So much that I actually have the commentary on) |

chance for Billings to be a hero...
I reckon a fluent 23... Would love a stand here, like both of these. Especially Pope. Maybe a 150 partnership ![]() |

Billings wetting himself. Bless

Yes, quite

Could be 23 not out for Billings, instead

23 still feels a long way...

Slight shame that it's Woakes they're intent on giving lives to
By:
England batsmen have been awful but they have also been very unlucky. Very few have been out to a good ball-perhaps Root.
By:
Odds against getting 200 now.
By:
Oh dear. Aus. will get 250 and declare and bowl England out for 150 second time. They are worse than Zimbabwe or Ireland at the moment.
By:
England-the gift that keeps on giving..if you're an Aussie
By:
Warner must surely be in the running to open the batting for England
has absolutely the requisite credentials clueless and keeps getting out for sweet FA |
By:
Its it like the Aussies have been that good ffs
They’ve not actually 500 all series and been out for barely 300 numerous times, it’s just out lot have been utterly pathetic and barely made 200 all eries |
By:
It’s not like*
By:
generally speaking our bowlers have acquitted themselves pretty well
but even Stevie Wonder could see that batting line-up going to Oz was doomed to failure and even more annoyingly the greater your failings as a batter the more secure your place becomes needs a total clean up but with the old boys club don't hold your breath |
By:
We've been pants, sure - but Australia possessed two of the top-three bowlers in the Test rankings before the series began, three in the top-ten and all four in top 20.
They're at home, we've quarantined, we've toured in a bubble, and played no cricket out of Tests. We're not a good Test side, by any stretch, but I've seen plenty worse - against far worse opposition. The bowling rankings are formulated against all nation's, these guys are ridiculously good anywhere - never mind in their back yard. |
By:
The bowlers seem to get dropped after doing ok yet Hameed lasted 4 tests despite making about 5 every innings
By:
Smith really has an awful technique
How he’s made the runs he has is baffling to me |
By:
our press always bigs up any England side whatever the sport and invariably they are nowhere near what they are made out to be
and tend to badly underestimate the opposition esp these Aussies |
By:
awesome comeback from Woody...

Could get interesting
