Pretty pathetic display by England . The commentators / pundits were gaily talking about England having a chance to win this match tonight , their views were as far off the mark as England's batsmen ,
Would not like to be selling ads for the rest of the series on Sky.

To be fair your right johnny

When do the Aussies start complaining?

At least over here its competitive and the losing side doesnt get beaten like this series after series

Not saying anything about the Australians here but you have to go back 30 years for a competitive series down there?

5-0 1-3 (the worst Aussie side in recent memory but nowhere near as bad as our useless bast@rds) 5-0 4-0 and now this series which is going 5-0

At least over here its 2-1 2-1 3-2 results and entertaining for the fans in attendance

They probably love knowing them but if my side was beating them this Id not bother attending theres little point

Its all on us not them, the aussies really ought to be having a word with their England counterparts though, that the ECB and Aussie Cricket

I really didn't expect any more, basically we play the 1 day side in the Test Match side, apart from whoever opens the batting and I did state before the series even started, our batting was woefully weak, as we have county standard players at the top of the order and 1 day players mid order, with only Root and Stokes Test level players. The bowlers we do have can't bat, Woakes apart, while Jimmy and Stuart have never been good, even though their top scores are 167 and 84 respectively. We didn't play Woakes in this test and i can't fathom why he was left out, not that it would have made any difference anyway. Its not Roots fault we have no batting and he really carries our whole innings hopes and I think he has top scored in more innings than not in our 6 test match innings so far.

If they are the one day batters then who are the test batters?

I'm no cricket expert....but from what I can see is there really is a lack of grit to the England batting line up. The ability to leave and bore the Australia bowlers has been lost since Cook became captain.  This bunch gives the bowlers hope

And there you have. Someone who is no cricket expert can see it but the coaches and selectors cannot!

We must start selecting the best wicket keeper in test matches. That is Ben Foakes. Butler out of the side altogether.

Niether Leach or Bess are good enough. Try Parkinson (leg Spin) in their place.

Liam Livingstone strong no nonesense bat, plus he can be used as an extra spin bowler.

Saqib Mahmood is a better bowler than Woaks or Overton.

Josh Bohannon is a much improved batsman from Lancashire, stick him in ahead of Pope, Lawrence or Crawley who are not good enough.

Hameed could not score runs at Formby, what he is doing opening the batting for England I will never know.Test career shoulkd be over.

Stokes would be my Captain.

Try to get Jason Gillespie in as Coach.

Play County Cricket in the Summer Time!!!

The Australians rate Parkinson as a much improved bowler. Shirley Australia was the place to try him with the extra bounce? I don5 think Leach or Bess are good enough but England want their spinners to be containers not match winners.

I think Leach has also been given a hard time without matches. It is not entirely his fault.

Truth is there are more questions to ask even before seeking answers.

A change of Coach and Captain is the least we should hope for.

the money generator these days is T20 and the shorter format

the ECB is not going to forgo that

to get a reasonable test side you have to have players learning their skills in the longer format of the game i.e. County cricket as used to be the case not bookended early in the season when the weather is not conducive to playing or getting decent pitches nor right at the back end of the season as now

but i just don't see any way they will sacrifice the golden goose of the lucrative short form of the game to have county cricket played in the summer(such as it is in this country)

so plus ca change..you know it doesn't make sense Rodney

They lack inspiration to have both and their ego is too big to realise that despite starting the T20 they have been left behind by smarter operators. So they invented The 100. Sheer fecking genius. The whole World has accepted the T20 franchise system. We could have a magnificent T20 operation second only to the IPL but we are English so that will never happen!

Hardly a surprise we have been pasted yet again down under with our pathetic batting for the last however many years with the benchmark for the top 6 normally averaging 40 runs for test match level and we have one of those Joe Root, the only surprise was the Aussies were 1.3 to win the series.

The only chance for England is to bring back county cricket to May, June, July & August when we hopefully have the best batting conditions ...in late Sept / Oct play a comp in Dubai with the top 4 teams (all to play each other) & allow potential England players from other counties to be drafted in to the squads.
The T20 competion * 1 day game need to be played on weekends / evenings & I'd forget the 100 although it won't happen ... at least English players should be restricted to a few games
Have the u19s (with the best prospects at the time) to visit Oz each winter for 6 weeks & get them acclimatised to foreign conditions ... might not be the answer but at least it wouldn't harm anyone

Fail to prepare & prepare to fail but have the ECB ever listened to anyone but themselves ... could be RIP to test cricket if we don't do something ... other teams currently much better than us but we do at least watch Test cricket in this country & for most visiting teams a healthy attendance at the venues .. some of the other test nations rely (without Covid restrictions) on English tourists.
I for one will mourn the loss of test match cricket as it will always be the best form of the game by far

Would some kind soul enlighten as to why Aussies are almost Evens to win the 4th Ashes Test and the draw 11/8? Are they expecting monsoons - no way can it be a draw, that would mean the Test lasting 5 days ffs !!

I can’t get this draw price either. Unless people are thinking COVID may strike and deplete Eng and match gets called a draw ? Presume void if before the start, poss declared draw in play..?
By:

When: 30 Dec 21 20:02
If Covid causes in-running Test to be abandoned, result will not be a draw, all bets still live will be declared void. Extraordinary if otherwise!
