The difference in the quality of spinners might have contributed a little? The English spinners don't have anything like the same control.

The big plus for England has been the wicketkeeper. I would persevere with him. Butler far too hit and miss with the bat and an relatively ordinary keeper.

I had to look up Burns' contribution in the 1st Test - 33? Yes, better than nothing, but he looks anything but solid to me.

I don't think I've ever seen a worse England test team take the field. Mind you, not so sure the Indian team is that good either.

Why Foakes ever gets dropped after his start amazes me. A century and a 50 in his 1st ever Test, wicketkeeping the best in the land, 2 matches later he's dropped for years, comes back and is, immediately, top scorer..........admittedly, scruffy keeping so far in 2nd inns, but faultless in 1st. What has the lad got to do?

I see, Dessie, near enough the two strongest test teams around, but neither up to your standards, eh?

Teams who won the toss won these matches

India made mistakes with their choice/ availability of spinners in the first match but India would likely have won had they batted first imho.

In this match Indian spinners have wrested control. Axar has made a huge difference.

The defining factors were again the toss and a batting master class

Agree about Foakes. Apart from being the best keeper in the land he is a better Test Match batsman than Butler. I like Butler but Foakes should be the no 7.

I like the look of Stone too. God I am looking forward to Australia this winter. Chooks are coming home to roost.

These are the two best teams around by a country mile and the series is developing into a titanic arm wrestle. The toss has been decisive thus far. Will we see a team win one against the head?

Think Kohli will be taking the groundsman with him to Ahmebad after he produced this wicket just what Kholi ordered after he criticised the wicket in the 1st test as too flat even though it was a decent contest that lasted 5 days,we have been thoroughly pasted in the 2nd test but this wicket is a shocker with numerous grenades on the 1st day FFS,i think the ICC need to invoke the curly finger to the BCCI for an explanation

I dont want to see this type of pitch in Test Cricket either but on reflection if you bowl 10 full tosses maybe you deserve to be hammered.

Fantastic from Foakes!

I hope people start looking at his batting too because his technique is Test Match Cricket. I would have him over Butler and Bstard in an instant!

i agree with whispering and dessie, these are probably the best 2 at the moment,  but the standard is poor imo look at  sibley, burns and lawrence would struggle to get a game for minor counties in the good old days>Grin

Are India going to be matched at 1.01 before Eng bat?
I have no probs with the maths, but it can’t have happened often if ever against England.

Gavaskar was surprisingly listenable working on Oz radio in the recent series...seems to have reverted to his more usual style here...that of a ****

So England will need 400-450ish, and lasted fewer than 60 overs in their first bat...........hmmn

Ashwin using outrageous tennis shots and getting boundaries.....any England batsman trying such shots would be pilloried for ever more

Yeah, I find Gavasker very irritating, as I believe does ButcherLaugh
As you say.... the draw bias would have probably have prevented the 1.01 back in the day, sadly the markets are prob nore efficient, having said that 1.03 is rather generous.

I'd certainly want a bit more than 36 for Eng to make what would arguably be their greatest ever run chase...probably just differently inefficient I'd say LL but just an opinion...
as ever 7 for 0 and the plunge will probably start regardless

I'm just hoping they can sell their wickets dearly enough to last out as many of the 200 overs they'll be facing as possible.
