Burns has a twisted left ankle following a game of football.

you'd think they'd be ultra cautious with the lurgy sweeping through the camp. it's meant to be a professional cricket tour

I fancy England especially if they bat first as they should have done last time.

Burns and Archer out. Can’t back the Engerland here. The only thing I would say is maybe the toss will bring England back into the game if they bat first and ground and pound.

Glad Crawley is playing as I want a look at him. He is supposed to be a good player of fast bowling and that is what is needed at Test level. Not entirely convinced with the technique of Burns or Sibley but Burns in particular has shown the obduracy required despite technical shortcomings, which, can be worked on. Sibley to a lesser extent has also shown a glimpse and is worth persevering with although he will need to work on his offside shots and keep the scoreboard moving to some degree.

Our bowlers look to lack a cutting edge. I think I will go careful because on a dry pitch our reverse swing bowlers may come into the game after looking a little impotent last time out.

In short lay the side batting second particularly if it England but wait to see if the ball reverses before lumping on. Not looked at weather yet.

Have to favour SA

Every team plays football to warm up. Not sure which comm it is but he always gets p1ssed at this for the danger of ankle injuries. Maybe Michael Holding.

I know you're all compulsives, but the prices seem about right to me. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to get stuck in early.

whisper it softly but neither Crawley nor Sibley are test batsmen which has reinforced their position in the side as they are a good fit with the other 9 who aren't either

I remember Stokes double hundred here last time which I thought would be his Magnus Opus. Little did I know what was to come last summer

England still in this and I don’t know why but I have backed them at odds against. I might go talk to myself for a bit!

getting out too cheaply too often lately

this mkt is either uber prescient or is skewed..still has an undue  hard-on 4 Eng

how does 185/5 on a 450 pitch qualify the batting team to be fave?

learn smth new every day,i guess

England runline set for 315 or so, I'd fancy England to win if they got to that
By:

When: 03 Jan 20 14:28
at the end of the day you only have to get the opposition out twice and outscore them

so when you have 2 such brittle batting lineups

if 100 & 99 beats 99 & 99 so be it
By:
tomtimtum
When: 03 Jan 20 14:32
Exactly, 350 could be massive score on this pitch
By:
rob999
When: 03 Jan 20 14:41
350 could be a massive score given the weak batting line ups on display.

But the pitch for mine right now and into Day 2 and probably Day 3 is a belter.
