what an absolute joke these 2 sides are batting..Elgar & de K..atrocious shots 2 sh1te bowling
the best players for both sides are those at the crease when the other side is bowling |
|
By:
Maybe this pitch was not the featherbed everyone has been stating...............
|
|
By:
There was always going to be something in the pitch. Elgar and DeKock threw their wicekts away in search of quick runs. Decock understandable but Elgar's was criminal. Now they'll pay the price.

the pundits out there hav said its a good pitch & they have seen enough of them over the years . it will change as the game goes on but certainl a good wkt for the 1st couple of days ... because its dry it will start to turn day 3 or 4 ... at least we have a spinner in the team
the bowlers are simply better than the batsmen who are ordinary for the most part |
|
By:
and pls tell me why Broad & Anderson are still in the side?
well past their sell by date can only do it on home soil ![]() hopefully it will be the last we see of our petulant, uber overrated 'quota' 'bowler'..waste of space |

By:
england now 1.7
|
|
By:
considering some of the prices they've been at various stages of this match, England 1.7 a pretty good price
|
|
By:
still got to bat a 2nd time ..t3..1.7 could become 7.1

Thought England bowled well and were a tad unfortunate. Can't disagree with current odds.

I don’t think the pitch was a featherbed!
Firstly it was not quick so scoring has not been easy. There was enough in the pitch with the new ball even a Kookaburra. The ball will start to spin and we shall see uneven bounce some have already kept low and more will lift. I am on Engerland purely on the toss. I think the team that bat first wins. This is England’s to lose now even if there is plenty to play for. Don’t listen to the commentators look at the pitch. It is dry underneath. How about some left field thinking, bring Curran in first wicket down against a hard ball to blast some runs? Save Root and Stokes. We do not want to go back to 30/3 or 4. A small cameo may help win this match particularly against the new ball. After that every single will be priceless. England need to think about how they approach the new ball and also the softer ball overs. |

Also keep an eye on Sydney. That pitch is even drier. If the Aussie price gets North of 1.5 buy steadily! Hope NZ do not lose an early wicket
|
|
By:
WD - not a bad call but may as well send Buttler in.
Send him in early doors and see what happens. Could make or break him. Elgar and QdK's shots were insane. Borderline fix territory. Elgar trying to hit against the spin from the rough with a mid off half way back (and it's not his shot). Kock trying to flat bat a length ball stright. Really?? |
|
By:
Better call!
In fact play them 3 and 4 unless we don’t lose a wicket in the first 30 overs. England should be looking to win the game between overs 30 and 70. This really is all to play for. Bat out the day and I suggest the game will be won. Day 4 it will be very difficult not just to bat on but score. I hope our openers push for singles at every opportunity. I am going to leave my money on England. Smart thinking would have me cash out and buy England back when we are a few wickets down bu5 I am happy with 2.37. Glad I did not listen to Sky Sports, good Test Match pitch not a feather bed. England score was disappointing but kept them in the game and now they are ascendant IMVHO! |
|
By:
I don't think its a bad test match pitch .. Pope got runs & so did Elgar before he threw his wky away so it can be done but the batsmen don't apply themselves enough ... obduracy is a good talent to have in difficult circumstances
England do need to bat all of day 3 (hopefully they get the 2 wkts very quickly) & another session if possible by which they should have plenty enough runs ... not sure they will change the batting line up as suggested because not in the make up of Root or the coaching staff to do so Hopefully Bess will geta a few wkts 2nd time around ... decent performance to date and allowed the seamers to rotate |
|
By:
Bess was excellent. Not helped by the timid Root who had 4 (four) boundary fielders. No second slip to the flappy de Kock either. Ball moves for a quick, 2 slips. Spinner from the rough, 1. Why?
Anderson and Broad defying Father Time and logic. Incredible. 5-70 from 32 between them. We think Eng are struggling. When these 2 go it will take years to recover. Yeah get Buttler and Cuzza up high and go for it. 200 wins it I reckon. Pitch is up and down. Exploding at times. |

By:
England looked half decent today !! real grit !! with Root finally showing some tenacity, Stokes was outstanding as per normal, despite the drop and the no ball wicket
