The Met Office is the UK’s National Meteorological Service and one of the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Partner Organisations. As an expert Public Sector Research Establishment (PSRE), the Met Office provides critical services to the public, business and policymakers. We operate 24/7 and employ more than 1,700 at 60 locations throughout the world.
We are recognised as one of the world's most accurate forecasters, using more than 10 million weather observations a day, an advanced atmospheric model and a high-performance supercomputer to create 3,000 tailored forecasts and briefings a day. These are delivered to a huge range of customers from the Government, to businesses, the general public, armed forces, and other organisations. Despite persistent rumours to the contrary, we can confirm that our systems are not open to manipulation by organized betting rings and that none of our staff have any interest in artificially reducing the price of the draw for the second Ashes test. |

why the massive plunge on australia this morning ? if it's very bowler friendly conditions with moisture and cloud cover definitely helps england more than australia

It appears that we are heading for an extreme weather event as a result of a freak North Atlantic Oscillation, resulting from unusual seasonal differences of sea level atmospheric pressures between the contributing Icelandic Low and Azores High.
Westerly winds are already forming and can be witnessed through the location of storm tracks across the North Atlantic. These winds will be accelerated by the Perseids meteor shower which is scheduled to light up the sky with a stunning celestial display on the evenings of August 12 and 13. ![]() |

Gonna have to lay this now..
Any break in the weather = short spells for the bowlers and batsmen having to start again each time after rain breaks. England may even play Curran for Leach. Floodlights will aid the swing. The pitch looks very good for batting but if it swings, it becomes less relevant. Anyway, these Duke balls have huge seams so expect movement off the pitch. Woakes's record here is fantastic. Ramp over! |

Looking at met, I still don't see how we lose more than a day.
2 sessions lost on WED and one on FRI. Saturday forecast has been continuously improving. |
