Quite glad I woke up when the draw was 4.7 although it was on the move down quite quickly at that point so also had to take some sleepy missing prices 4s to go green and now have a quiet £750 NZ, £440 England green.
If I’d just picked some slightly different times to wake up I could have been thousands green on this game. |

I panicked out at evens just before that injury ball. Can't believe my bad luck. Traded my way to a profit over several days only to get greedy after Cook by not greening out, then was vulnerable to no wickets. Couldn't risk waiting until end of play, but now I've really scr*wed myself.

Cynical from the bowler, playing to Root's weakness after the previous ball. Another example of the game of cricket, that once bastion for everything that described fairness in the world, being no other than yet another sad example of the general dog eat dog mentality where sportsmen will use every device, fair or foul, to get an edge. Not talking out of my pocket either. Hope England can hold them off now. Should be some nice trading opportunities tomorrow.

If it was causing him so much pain, he should have gone off injured. Only a few balls left and if Jimmy had got out it wouldn't have been the end of the world. Too much ego and hubris

I made the error of thinking the market over reacted to the injury as he didn’t look to have broken his finger so backed draw during the pause in play. Didn’t go well but leaves me pretty even green with a little more on draw rather than a little more on Kiwi. I wouldn’t blame the support staff for it: Root must have felt he could bat on although advising him to retire to finish the days play would have been clever. I do think the England set up is intellectual feeble though. One illustration is that Root would have batted if he’d won the toss. You always bowl first on a Kiwi green top, because it will be flat after two sessions.

It’s a good to very good batting surface but we’ve all seen England bat before and the two guys you’d really rate to have a long stay in them are both out. I’d hope for a time least one more flip flop.

iirc they lost 2 wickets in the last knockings of day 4 to kane williamson's filthy spin (?) in 2013 to be 4 down and still saved it. not sure this side has in it them at the moment though

2/3rds down at one stage held my nerve and layed the draw eventually at 2.26 to give an all green of 1/3! I am going to talk to myself though. Came good in SA too! Smudge situation in Cape Town made it a perfect weekend! |

I don't know why the market thinks sides batting last can make a huge score after one good partnership. I was shocked how quickly the draw price came down. I was out in Caerdyff on a bender ( no ) and hung over but couldn't sleep. Just kept watching crib info and Betfair on my phone
The draw came down very quickly and was in free fall from 2.5 I was patient but wanted 2.2, there was a big block of 10K on 2.24 so I bit the bullet after 15 mins and took 2.26 Not saying it won't be a draw, just had to cover NZ red that I had almost thought was lost. Quel surprise |
