if he didn't bowl people would want him to play as just a batsman
can't play him as an all rounder because "we don't need that many bowlers" Crazy

This was when they were talking about not playing him btw!

listening to bob willis last night car crash TV saying TRJ should be playing ahead of woakes, laughable, for all TRJ has made a good start to his test career and will be in the team going forward imo

utter dross

i'd have TRJ and woakes playing out of this squad. he'd offer more than 3 failing batsmen

he's the 2nd best seamer behind anderson imo & good enough to bat 7 if not a tad higher, he's in the 1st half of the order that the names go on the team sheet without a doubt

root
anderson
moeen
cook
stokes

Broad should be looking over his shoulder, whether or not they have the stones to drop a "great" is up for debate
By:

could not agree with you more tom

I would play TRJ ahead of broad at lord's

Surprised to read Broad is only 31, he's been around forever.
Think we're stuck with him for a few more years yet
By:

When: 28 Aug 17 16:21
moeen is so good in these situations. number of times he's come in and smashed a quick 60 or 70

Imagine if this was a draw with no stoppages throughout! Shocked...closer Eng move towards 300 the more I think its a distinct possibility!

his reputation and stats will ensure that tom

but on current form from the last 18 months or so, his best days as a bowler (pace especially) and certainly any credibility with the bat are long long gone

By:

if eng are bowled out with 300 lead WI approach will be sh1t or bust imo
By:
wondersobright
When: 28 Aug 17 16:27
they're unlikely to get a better chance of beating england I cannot see them thinking in terms of a draw when wickets fall
By:
mafeking
When: 28 Aug 17 16:31
broad 27 wickets @ 30 in the last 12 months. not awful but looks poor in comparison with jimmy who has been terrific

Stand By for a Draw Crash ...if no wicket soon!

When: 28 Aug 17 16:40
including 7 tests against WI, SL and bang all since last summer
and the luxury of taking the new ball resulting in an opportunity cost to other bowlers (other than anderson) who don't have the new ball to bowl with

like in the 1st inns, root missed a trick not bowling jimmy & woakes with the new ball
jimmy bowled well, broad let them off the hook bowling pies & woakes came on and bowled beautifully
