Depends on the team I would say.
England need Root more than they need Stokes |
|
By:
Stokes is a top player but we have similar to him in Woakes.
Don't have anyone else even close to Root. |
|
By:
root
but stokes is nowhere near to being dropped woakes likewise |
|
By:
stokes ahead of root in 20/20 and ODIs !!! root marginally ahead in tests !!
|
|
By:
tests
root is a world class batsman stokes is a good batsman and good bowler and an excellent all rounder worth his place in the side my opinion |
|
By:
root would get in any world test XI, stokes wouldn't
|
|
By:
stokes definitely in my world XI

So at lunch 251-4
80-1 in the session Lead by 82 with 6 wickets left Malan, Stokes, Bairstow, Ali and Woakes all capable of adding more runs. Very interestingly poised |

The game is now so evenly poised, England need more runs, Windies need wickets in a hurry, however England being 251-4 in their 2nd innings suggest that there is not too much wrong with the surface. West Indies should have taken the new ball straight away, but it is obvious, they are running scared of Ben Stokes, as the ball will come onto the bat quicker and he will score runs very quickly, when they should be thinking we'll get him out with it. The longer England bat the more tired the Windies bowlers will become and further more, the more runs England get, the longer rest the England bowlers are having. Its still anybodys game to win and lose. England are still hot favourites, which they shouldn't be, if the roles were reversed England wouldn't be trading at 4.9 for sure.

cricketnut, i suppose the argument is that England should have way less than the 251 we already have given the dropped catches and the extra runs which resulted. The pitch for me is doing plenty, Moeen on this track will be a completely different prospect to Bishoo, more than a 200 lead and it will be a real test

Just clarify something for me please. If I say the draw is over-priced would you take it I meant the draw odds are too short or too long?
