Well, I like my SA green a lot more now, even if my draw green has gone a bit tits up. Draw may well shorten a lot if SA start without losing a wicket for a few overs though, as their top 3 is a draw dream.

Block out for a draw on his own, you mean? Still no intent this morning from him but equally not looking at risk. The odd thing is that's while his batting so far today has done wonders for the draw and no harm to SA at all, the SA price will come in hugely if he's out.

This morning session is a lot like yesterday's.

Oh God, don't remind me.

Williamson keeps out a good yorker and even scores a run.

just heard on the radio that Taylor may bat. Its a low grade tear but he has been hitting some balls in the nets this morning.

Won't be able to run much, I don't suppose. I doubt they'll risk him first innings but I suppose if Williamson or Watling is still there, sending him out to block a few and perhaps hit the odd boundary might be worth it.

I keep looking at the radar for Sunday , it looks more and more like a washout. if this is a four day test then NZ are going to have to skittle SA in their 2nd innings to win, seems unlikely on this pitch.

Surely Taylor could have a runner... it was not a preexisting injury?

no runner? Ok fair call the law must have changed :) but he could hold up an end. Not sure if they will use him in this innings though.

Was just going to say that NZ seems surprisingly short. It's not going to fall apart and turn square, is it? Sure, may be something in it for the decent enough Kiwi spinners but 2.8 or so looks very short.  They've still got 100 runs to get to reach parity, going very slowly and only 4 wickets left really and even then, would have to do quite bad things to the SA second dig to win if there is a lot of time lost on day 5. Problem is I'm already pretty red on Kiwi win. Anyway trying to make it worse at 2.9.

I suppose in Kiwis' favour is that while it's a reasonable enough track, there's something there for the bowlers and may be a fair amount of turn out of the footmarks for spinners. I don't think it's going to jump or do anything that quickly though, so can see Cook and Elgar, indifferent test openers though they are, blunting the inital attack and it being difficult to rampage through the SA middle order.

I'm off thinking the more this gap diminishes or even exceeds, the more overs required on day 5, implying weather will see the draw quite short.

That's my position.

Following nearly every ball of a 1dayer then a short break and then following every ball of a test match is what fries my brain.  Some must have burnt themselves out doing this, or ended up in a padded cell.

Sunday now looking wet, at least early. NZ will need a good first innings lead then skittle SAF to win.

It's getting closer to the point where SA won't have enough time to win it but could still lose it.
