Draw showing almost no inclination to drop at all. Problem is Aus scoring so fast that the Aus win is eating up the NZ win rather than the draw coming in. NZ and draw backers need Warner out, really. Still a bit surprised it's moved so little. This clearly isn't a bad batting track.

The market only seeing one result this test. I'm tempted to have a small go at NZ at 20s. You don't often get the chance to back a reasonable side at those sort of odds before they've even given away 100 runs.

Well, I don't think they'll win but they've not looked out of any chance of taking wickets so I've backed NZ for £50 at 21s. That's just so long.
I'm now of course just going to see Aussie runs pile up, the draw not shorten and then NZ get torn apart. To be fair, those aren't unlikely events. |

Same as last game IMO. Only difference really, is that Aus started much shorter, and as such, can't really hold the draw off as long. Draw was 4.20-4.50 at the bewilderment of a few of us. 8.40+, there must come a time today that it starts to shorten.
Not getting caught out on it again this game. Need to find the bottom of the Aus price before we can look at the draw. |

Nice thing about having some cash on NZ is that I'm covered if wickets tumble and will hopefully see the draw eventually decide to move if they don't. I'm not in for any more now but that is one hell of a short Aussie price.

My draw green is at the expense of a big NZ red. When NZ bat, NZ and the draw will move in the same direction, so not much risk.
The risk was Aus get knocked over for a small score and that's passed. |

Seems pretty ridiculous I could back NZ at 21s when Aus 90/0 and still at least theoretically bowl out able for a score under 400 s d they've only gone out to 30s at 318/1.

Market realises as they have done for the last half a day, that NZ will be batting tomorrow afternoon, ~600 behind, regardless of wickets or declaration.

Very unlikely we see much change til then. Fortunately, there appears to be ODI game on tonight, and another test starting tomorrow, as this one looks about fooked.
Did make a little safe money on it though, so while has been very boring from both a watching and betting perspective, boring tends to still lead to money, albeit without a whole lot of risk, which ultimately is the aim, even if it does feel like I haven't done anything for the day. |

Sure that's true but it's still a bit odd, as there's a massive difference between 90/0 and 318/1. You have to think that NZ had an at least reasonable chance of keeping the win in the equation from the former, very little indeed from the latter. Anyway, got my lay of NZ at 32s matched after close and some of my lay of the draw at 7 so may not end up having a terrible test. Still disappointed that I didn't call the draw getting as long as it did but 8s always felt pretty high, expecting it to get up to 9s would have been a bit deep. |

I'm on the draw at an average of 8.87 and trying to work out what to do with it. A bit (or preferably a lot!) of rain would help.
Aussies scored so quickly and will be at least 600 up after a day-and-a-half (depending on rain of course). Can NZ bat for three days using both innings? I doubt it but at the odds I'll risk keeping the draw. |

Suspect there might be an early declaration like last time with the intention of batting third again to give the bowlers respite from the sun.

Suspect there might be an early declaration like last time with the intention of batting third again to give the bowlers respite from the sun spot on foinavon I'd say most likely aussies bat into the 2nd session today and declare at around 600 then try to bowl NZ out 1st time round in 3-4 sessions for approx 300 then bat again to set them 500 ish and try to bowl them out in minimum 5 sessions similar to the gabba really |
