Currently Aus 1.43-1.44, NZ 5.9-6.2 and draw 7-7.8 in a still thin market, although in fairness it doesn't start for over 2 more days. I think I'll get on Aus at some point but that seems a bit short still, given that the Kiwis don't have a bad team and that last test aside, the Aussie batting really isn't all that. The draw interests me, in that I know the WACA is a result wicket and in principle opposing draws beats backing them but getting on the draw at 8s, which is what I'll try, seems like it's got to be good for later trades most of the time.

I got on the draw at 8 yesterday and hope to lay off at 7 (for not much unfortunately
)Last time I looked sportsbook were going 11/2 the draw which puts a floor under the ante-post price. |

Southee carrying an injury and Boult off his best. McClenaghan (sp?) may play, and might do OK as I recall he does bowl the fully length comms keeps going on about.
But I still think, this will likely be an Aus train and the big draw price is correct. |

Looking at previous results at The WACA between the two sides, New Zealand last won a Test there in 1985. However the last Test they actually played there was in 2001 (which they drew)! The WACA should suit the Aussie attack best. I would love the Kiwis to win or draw but believe either scenario at combined odds of around 5/2 has no appeal.
Sadly. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/irani-cup-2015-16/engine/records/team/match_results.html?class=1;id=213;type=ground |

Some storms around Friday. Should be restricted to inland, but might get a bit of weather action.

There are grounds in the world ( and even a couple in Australia ) where betting against Australia is a viable move.
Perth is not one of these grounds. |

I appear to be stuck with a load of draw at 8 that I don't really want to go into the match with (especially as I will be asleep) but can't offload for anything other than a loss at the moment with the draw price creeping up. Can't see it being a draw but above 8s seems terribly long, no matter how dry the forecast or how much of a result wicket it is.
|
|
By:
Draw should come in during the first 15 minutes of play assuming no collapse. If you put up a keep lay at between 7 and 8 there will be every chance of getting matched. No guarantee of course and the only certain way of proceeding is to close out before bedtime.
|
|

I'm on the draw too at 8.2 and considered scratching but after looking at recent tests there I see it's a good batting wicket for all 4 innings despite being a result pitch so I'll keep it in play for a trade later on.
|
|

I've actually had a bit of a dart at 8.8 too as that really does seem awfully long and will put up a lay at 7s for most of it, perhaps 6s for the rest. It's potentially quite a lot of exposure if there are early wickets but it would be a seriously unusual test for the draw never to trade below 7.

I've tried for 8.8 and 9. Be nice if NZ bat first and get off to a good start.

No chance of rain all 5 days. Also pretty hot.
I've also got on the draw rather more than I really wanted - I was looking for the threat of a bit of rain today, but 8s justified IMO. |

Trading volume poor.

Pitch pretty green 2 days ago.

It's going to be a pace bowling shoot out & I know who has the best attack. Straight bet on Aus, with only top ups on Oz if & when required.
Not even thinking about trading the draw in this game (as I usually do). |
|

They haven't got anybody to pander to as test cricket is going to be moved from the WACA, so they can prepare a 3/4 day rapid pitch without any recourse.
The last game here was in December 2013 and was a decent batting wicket. However, that was prepared because they wanted 5 days of drinking from the English. It was also searingly hot, about 45 some of the days. |
|
By:
I had tickets to that match, but too hot even for me. Sold them to some pom, who couldn't believe his luck getting prime tickets at face price. Hundreds of people went down with heat stroke.

By:
I was there for all 5 days but I hardly ever sat in my seat. There are tiny shaded areas you can stand in but the stewards keep moving you on .
Took early and long liquid lunches in the Fraser suites very close to the ground. An eye watering $12/15 AUS for a pint of clear/white cider if I remember correctly but it was the best cider I have ever tasted, I think it came from NZ. |
|
By:
Most seating at the WACA uncovered so you are out in the sun. 40C in the shade isn't too bad here because it's not humid, but 40C in the sun is a killer.
Which BTW is why I am in favour of the new stadium. All seating covered. |
|
By:
It looks like Southee is out.
I can't convince myself NZ has any kind of chance here. Even if they go well with the bat, they still need to 20 wickets and I can't see that unless Boult comes up with some magic. |
|
By:
I think I might just stick to the £100 a ticket at the Oval with a few £5 a pint of p1ss water to keep me cool in the 20c heat and that's in feckin August.

Personally I think 1.41 (the price I took) is a gift from the gods.

I can't resist the draw at 9s.

See how blue the sky is. Typical summer day in Perth.

By:
Bracewell at 7? I'm sick of backing draw at 8.8, let alone those 8s. Hope for Aus to bat well and be able to lay off but wow that NZ line up isn't going to be battling much out once it's 5 down.
|
|
By:
Worst possible result for bettors with Aus batting first, except those that wished to back Aus straight out for the win. Probably only realistic result, but at the start of 5 days (potentially), taking 1.40 interests me nil.

Not carrying to slips on morning 1 of a WACA pitch?
No draw here.... |
|
By:
too deep more than poor carry
|
|
By:
Maybe so, but would generally carry regardless of how deep. Radio comms suggesting looks more like a day 3 pitch here..
|
|
By:
Do they think it will be uneven on comms?
|
|
By:
Uneven on comms?
Don't usually take too much notice of comms, but tended to agree with that statement to the lack of carry. I have a small lay of NZ at 6.8. Figured was the only likely bet. NZ should be batted out of this today, and should see 20s at some point this afternoon. IMO |
|
By:
Might be batted out of it by lunch the way they are going..

lol. Warner has taken his phone out to vote on the most exciting batsmen. Currently ahead of De Villiers. rotflmfao He is busy.

Not sure, I tend to drown them out for the most part. Don't recall it being mentioned. Just mentions of comparing it to the Gabba, and day 3 Waca pitch.

Hot day. Any moisture in the pitch gone by lunch. I doubt the pitch will break up much.
