90 overs bowled. Very little chance bowling again.
By:
really? i wouldn't be so sure.
By:
Aus session and a half another 250 runs, 510 lead....
By:
that was to treble, not you BJT.
By:
Eng would love to bat again. It would open a door to an unlikely victory.
That's why Clarke won't enforce. Plus the thought of bowling 200+ overs in a row. |
By:
seems to be the received wisdom the f/o won't be applied..if so how much of a lead do the aussies want 450-500?
they need to get them quick..declare 2moro after lunch..give themselves no less than 4 1/2 sessions to bowl eng out |
By:
There's a chance they could bat themselves into trouble if they go gung ho chasing as many runs as they can in 1 or so sessions.
By:
450-500 spot on.
By:
Openers rush off, hinting an Aus batting session...
By:
How many overs left today?
By:
If they HAD enforced what odds would the draw have gone to, I wonder?
Surely it would have taken it right out of the equation? |
By:
won't get all the overs in. just play til 6.30
By:
They won't go stupid. They know they will score runs quickly just playing sensibly.
26 overs left today, 26 overs first session tomorrow. 4 an over sees 450+ lead with 5 sessions left. I suspect time wise that is around the target, with an enhanced scoring emphasis the longer the innings goes, assuming wickets in hand. Worst case scenario they are bowled out for around that at that time. Best case, wickets in hand, closer to 550 by that time. |
By:
Actually made a little money on the game today. Was looking unlikely earlier in the night.
Still more in the bottle, so will keep watching. ![]() |
By:
what i find somewhat perplexing is why the f/o isn't enforced..yes,it's hard work out there but we're meant to be fitter, faster, stronger than of yore when it was applied more frequently(access to supplements et al)
am personally of the persuasion that even if eng excelled 2nd inns got around 400..if the aussies can't chase down 150 irrespective of the wkt getting tougher then they don't deserve to win |
By:
I doubt Oz will bat after lunch tomorrow.
Then again, maybe they'll bat for 1 over after lunch and declare again Gives the openers bugger all time to prepare then |
By:
Warner will have licence to go hard. Will probably try get to 50 of 30 balls. The rest will play the sensible game, 4 an over
By:
Very doubtful. No need.
By:
With faster scoring rates, there's little need to enforce these days.
So much time left in the match means Clarke may as well grind our noses in it and let the pitch dry out further. I thought there was some very low bounce in the last hour or so. That could be a nightmare on Monday...especially as most our lot seem intent to play everything from the popping crease. |
By:
Enforcing follow on is thing of the past mostly. Only in extreme circumstances would Oz enforce it, like a match heavily interrupted by rain
By:
just cashed out my draw lay for 50% guarantee on all 3 contingencies as opposed to what i would've won if there ain't a draw
Oz prob 70-80% sure to win but might be another Cardiff scenario with the eng tail |
By:
Yeah, or if they bowled them out in 50 overs or so....
By:
Indeed
By:
think pure oz backers better clean their fingernails b4 2moro
don't think it will be an absolute smooth passage |
By:
And as they are saying now, could give Warner the inclination to throw the bat at it to try and find a little form. If he does that, much better for Aus in the series than anything else. Warner in form means England no chance.
By:
Not sure odds can really change too much from here until England innings....
By:
monday could bring some great drama at both ends of the UK
or 2 basic fait accompli all will be revealed |
By:
Ramprakash should lay into his batsmen tonight and spell out exactly what's required. Defend with a passion a la the skipper.
By:
Alamo spirit called for
By:
Johnny England have no hope from here. Might be able to save match against lesser opposition but Oz bowlers much too good not to win from this position
By:
$1.28 looks big if anything
By:
why warner don't like rogers?
By:
More likely Rogers doesnt like Warner cos he's a **** and he doesn't care about trying to hide it.
By:
You have met him?
By:
Who is offering to lay 250 at 1.72, big bankroll
By:
Yes. I've actually bowled to him in the nets at Lords. If I had to deal him daily I'd do exactly as Rogers does and completely ignore him. Doesn't mean I wouldn't want him in my team as he is a fabulous cricketer. Might still be tempted to punch him out at the end of the serious though.
By:
What did he say to you to offend you?
By:
Nothing personal. He's just the exact opposite in character to me. I'm an introvert, considerate of others around me, but wont stand for BS. He's brash and thinks the world revolves around him and everything should be done for his benefit. Add in a bit of a Napolean complex and I can see why people who had do deal with him on a regular basis would have issues. Those qualities I've described help make him what he is as a cricketer though so I'd happily put up with it if meant having him in my team.
By:
Well, one could argue that calling him a **** is personal.
And the impression I get, of course without meeting him, as that he is confident within himself of who he is and what he can do. Admirable IMO. |
By:
I meant he did nothing in particular to offend me. But yes me disliking his character is personal as he is someone who would rub me up the wrong way
