u can't do anything about ur height but lack of it and having to cope with continual jibes et al will make u steelier and forge u in the fire of adversity(and no doubt make u a bit of a **** in the process)

? he's taller than tendulkar |

I'd say he's several inchs taller the tendulkar. But in India you don't get the piss taken out of you for being short. It's all about the caste system there

Can anyone explain why England aren't 80+???
By:
Supply/demand?
By:
I'd guess because there is a chance the aus team will want to give England a sniff at victory and give them something to chase at. Doubt they'll go with this ploy but if one of these 2 teams were going to it would be Aus.

Ignorance?
By:
Warner to unleash now that he's had some time at the crease maybe?
By:
Basically, the tale is already set. England chasing 550-600 or so in 5 sessions. Market sees them as 30-1 to chase that.
The next 200 runs, and how it comes about, is borderline irrelevant. |
By:
when clarke declared in the second test vs west indies the odds for the west indies went from 100+ to 20, hth answer your question injera
By:
Yes, there's often panic in the 4th innings market.
Guess I'm talking about a fixed odd bet. England will be asked to chase 500+ and are currently 30s. I find that truly staggering. (Ps I'm maxed out on a lay) |

That bird must have wanted the ground to swallow her up.

oz knocked those off no trouble
don't get all this negativity about eng they just have to replicate that 5 times and job's a goodun ![]() |
By:
very few batsmen have the patience to bat long periods these days. england struggle to bat 100 overs let alone getting on for 150
doesn't help either when it's about 1/4 they'll be 50 for 3 or worse on recent form |

rain what rain imo!

lay/back england cannit go wrong.

Looks like a declaration just after lunch and a chase of 525ish. But as no team has scored more than 451 runs 4th inn in modern times, Clarke might get funky and declare before lunch.
On the face of it, a slamdunk Aus win. Eng might make a fist of it for a while, but even a draw seems a very remote possibility. I'm maxed out on Oz. |
By:
Don't ask me how i've got there but have a sodding great negative on England and more or less zero on draw and Oz. Should I cash out for a minor loss or end up no win no loss that is the question ??
By:
how can england win from this position...if oz declared overnight..they still wouldnt win...stick another 200 runs on..nigh on impossible...no botham job this.

BJT, if the draw price is at 10 when England start batting, then that would mean Aus would be about 1.15 & England 30's. Can't see Aus being that short with all the English backers on BF
By:
Why would the draw price only affect Aus price?
I would say closer to 1.20 Aus, 15 England, 10 draw. |
By:
All depends on how many Aus set England. How many do you think Clarke will want?
By:
I don't think at this point it is the runs, I think it is the time. They declare either this side of lunch or just after. My gut feel is about 5 overs after lunch.
Gives them about 30 overs to have a swing. Play in for a few overs, then start opening the arms a little. Nothing too stupid will happen, just try for 5-5.5 an over or so. Gives them 500-525 lead. Well chaseable timewise, and plenty of time to get them out. Of course if batting is extremely easy, then they will declare a little later. If they feel the pitch isn't likely to give a result, then keeping England out in the field will only help in future games. But that is my feel. England ~5 sessions to chase ~515. All 3 results well in play, with England getting the runs the most unlikely. |
By:
Of course, England could skittle them cheaply. Unlikely, but if that happens, it further throws the draw out, and probably strengthens Australias chances in reality.
By:
Entire England team doing the rain dance in the middle of Lords. Clarke will make them bat at least 5 and a half sessions. Might be more depending on if Warner stays in for the first hour.
By:
I think from the moment England lose a toss against Australia they start doing a rain dance, in every match don't they?
By:
hosts still coming in...do they know something we dont..
By:
Early declaration before lunch would see England drop to 10
By:
A Joe Root 100 masterclass and an Alastair Cook stay at the crease for 5 hours and score 1.4 an over wouldn't see England at 10.

Sorry meant to say 4 1/2 sessions in my post above

SL v Pak 3rd ODI starts in 15 minutes. Pak won the toss and bat, betfair still have Pak innings runs suspended.
By:
If you flick through the markets on that match practically all of them have gbp 0 matched on them bar match odds. Similar to the Ind v Zim T20 match starting today.

All I know, that the rain forecast between 7.00am and 10.00am, actually arrived between 4.00am and 7.00am, so another full days play today. The odds, should be something like this, Australia 1.1 Draw 11, England 800. The odds are probably like they are because, perhaps they are expecting Australia to declare with a lead of 450 and say to England your not going to get the runs and we are going to give you plenty of time to get them in. A bit of cockyness, just to say, we are confident we can bowl you out whenever.
By:
yeah, just moving in as no rain now expected. Took a bit of draw in case Aussies bat on and ENG start well
By:
Agree with cn2.
Except could be some misty drizzle Monday, but more likely ideal bowling conditions. Still, I've traded down my Eng and Draw reds a bit. |

In survival mode next few days as I'm trying to get back in profit somehow! Those 4 quick wickets on Friday evening when my internet went down have put me in a precarious position.

I hope precarious bank-wise.
