Impossible to call with any hint of certainty. My own view is that if Aus bat to tea then the wicket is the winner and a draw is likely. If they bat 'til tea there is a chance they can bat beyond.

England could force a winning position if they take a lead but more importantly do not allow Aus to the crease much after lunch.

The weather may eventually become a get out of jail card but to base any bets around it is not advisable. Althought the forecast shows rain there may only be a slight shower or two and maybe even dueing lunch. Not much play may be lost.

On a patriotic note I hope Aus bat beyond tea but slowly and I can lay back some draw green to cover other eventualities!

All three results possible for me and none probable.

I was going to say there are always 3 things you can rely on, but then I remembered gambling winnings are tax free in Oz.

The other 2 are,

Death
Punters over estimating the chance of draw after day 2 of a Test.

Good call there pxb, in NZ gambling winnings are tax free as well... great that. Good call was referring to the overestimation of the draw after day 2......

I don't know how people can be so confident in a draw, I know it's the easy thing to do because you can sit on the fence and not take a one way or another position but ffs it's day 2, all it takes is a good spell from 1 bowler and it opens the game right up

Agree with you there second coming - with the forecast improving for Sunday the chances of a draw are pretty slim imo.

as far as im concerned the draw would be a hell of a lot shorter than it is if was as sure a thing as a lot of people think.

very surprised that was given out, I thought it was too high and even on the replay, it looked like it would go over, I suppose it may be the home advantage that got England that wicket and was surprised the ball actually was hitting the stumps.

i'd only be very surprised if the standing umpire was a good one.

it does look too high given where it struck him on the pad and how far forward he got, but i suppose it just goes to show how dead this wicket is.

Also, when a player is an LB candidate it tends to stick in the umps mind. It's like a play actor/diver in football

how can it not be a good decision, ball is hitting stumps.

strange comment from holding.

these close ones fair enough either way, but shouldn't always go to the batsman like holding says.

Holding living in another world, it goes with the umpires decision, he gave it out, because he thought it was hitting the stumps, which it was, so he's out.

england need to stop bowling full and at the stumps at the lower order and tail.

we need to stick with the tried and tested method of 75 mph bouncers.

If Michael Holding is right that the umpire should have to be sure to give it out, then the review needs to change so that if the ball is hitting the wicket the batsman is out regardless of the umpires decision. They can't have it both ways. There is no discression at Wimbledon where I would prefer the review to be taken from the centre of the ball as a small overlap does not mean that the ball touched the line at all.

absolutely spot on sageform, holding is stuck in the 80s talking bowlarks
