It's impossible for England to be 190 for 1 at tea with their top three batting order.
By:
funny, every wicket is green two days out, it is called pitch preparation, it will be cut twice in the interim, might do a bit early on then should be good for batting on for most of the match, as is fairly standard with a lords pitch !!!!!

And does home advantage make that much difference ? England 5/4 verses NZ 9/4, When arguably, player for player NZ have a better team !!!
By:
massively i would say especially when there is little to choose between most teams playing test cricket at the moment. hardly an away team has won a match let alone a series in the last 2 or 3 years against any sort of proper opposition. loads of wide margin home series wins
By:
Guess that is why Aussie are 2/5 to win the ashes series in England
but take your point !!!! |
By:
I missed the draw at 3.25 (to lay). It's now 3.8.
Am hoping for a quiet first hour and no wickets.. Then we might see low 3s again. |
By:
hopefully as looking like 5 clear days, and will be looking to lay the draw at some point in game !!
By:
NewzeLund r Free Lay at 3.45
By:
England a better free lay at 5/4 given they might be going with two new caps, and are currently dire, against a high flying kiws team, short memories, this is not the England of old, down in confidence etc.....................

There aren't really any Test captains who operate significantly different to Cook/England, are you serious Bigpop !!!!!

Here is my take on this Test Match, the games at Lords, always go the full distance and its usually a very good batting track at the home of cricket, for at least 3 days, apart from the the 1st session. and after that, there is only a slight deteriation, so backing the draw at 3.65, makes sense, as it will surely shorten, over the early part of this match. Jimmy Anderson is Englands one real quality bowler, although Stuart Broad, will often have 1 or 2 sessions in a Test series, where he has a golden spell. England have no real quality spinner. New Zealand have an excellent batting side and a very good seam attack. I think both sides will score big runs, in this game and if either side is likely to be bolwed out cheaply, then that side is more likely to be England.
By:
Mostly agree Nut, other than I feel by what you are saying, that the England lay would be the call, NZ excellent batting, maybe !!
By:
and arguably better bowlers, with two front line world class swing bowlers and a full time spinner !!
By:
On Paper, its an excellent batting side, unfortunatly they play on a pitch, but the pitch at Lords is after the 1st hour, usually fairly dead for the bowlers, until later in the match.
By:
apart from 2 tests in the emirates from which they emerged with credit certainly in comparison with australia's pathetic performance there new zealand's recent test schedule has been pretty soft which an away series in early season english conditions certainly won't be
no doubt their bowlers should be a handful but it's their batsmen most of them coming straight from the IPL who will under the most pressure |
By:
However we could only manage a 1-1 draw, with a very very average West Indies side. We do however, play better at home

I am keen on the draw but am thinking about making an England lay at 2.26. Would like to see the pitch and toss but at 2.26 I feel there will be enough doubt over England to take a small hit if it goes bandy.
I think the batters are better than the bowlers. NZ are well drilled and if Boult and Southee get into the England middle order early there may be a result but I prefer the cautious approach. Both teams bat deep so unless we have a Bob Massie day ( look it up if you are still wearing shorts! ) I think we shall get two good first innings totals. The temperature is not likely to rise above 19C so the ball may not swing. Starting with a moderate England lay and will also consider backing the draw at 3.8 |
By:

I don't know where you got that idea from. Colder air is denser and in the UK generally less humid. Both of which in theory enhance swing. I'm in 2 minds about a decent sized draw back to lay. Draw will drop fairly quickly in the first session if no wickets. |
By:
yes
By:
Scientists have proven it is theoretically impossible for a bumblebee to fly. Generally I am of the opinion the ball swings less when it is cooler and more when it is humid.
I am happy with my England lay as it covers the chance of an NZ win. I think the draw is most likely result but then a ball has not been bowled yet! |
By:
Well Vaughan said it will be a very short game, but it seems to depend on what time of day it is what he says.
By:
By:
england are short.
very short. there is the danger that it hoops around and new zealand bat first and england go even shorter, but new zealand are a massively superior bowling side through Boult and Henry. |

Nz win toss and bowl

Cook is absolutely bricking it.
look at the fidgeting |

Why does Broad still get picked... such a **** bowler and can't even get a run these days... oh and he's a **** aswell

Yet another Yorkshire cricketer !!!

It's a disgrace when the comm says "I haven't seen much of him" re Lyth. Lazy unprofessional tw ats.
Backed the draw last night at 3.8 and laid it at 3.55. Now had a massive lay of England |
By:
Agreed about Broad, he was pssed up till 7am the other night and missed his England off field duty, much better Players in the county circuit, continually under performs and has not scored a run for two years, Cooks post toss interview
!!! |
By:
well at least it's honest.
tennis, and particularly wta, is a f*cking disgrace. most commentators have a working up to date knowledge of about 30 players across the men and women. that's the equivalent of two premiership squads. as for lyth, it's a good technique for england. cook under 21.5 runs at 2.37 on the highstreet looks like a gift. if southee doesn't get him, the small mouthed butch lesbian certainly will. out before midday. |
By:
unders 360.5 Eng 1st innings total at 5/6 seems decent value.

how many balls will alistair c ock survive, im saying under 15
