So what's the optimum stance to take at the moment....no bets yet but would like to get started.Anyone think backing the draw at 4 a reasonable bet.

I think England are still a steal on the lay!
Long way to go in the match but NZ will be batting when the pitch is at it's best. If they pile up a score England will be under a lot of pressure in the second innings. I don't think England will run through NZ. I don't think the draw is out of the question just yet and might top up above 5's. Happy to be sitting on England lay for now. Two well matched teams. I think the way forward is to lay whatever is odds on or close on days one and two. |

I'm still on a lay of the draw although I've traded the highs and lows to reduce liability. Will do more of the same tomorrow.

There may well be a result Foinavon! The pitch looks dry. A couple of balls spun and jumped from Craig on day 1. Day 5 may be difficult for whoever is batting on it!
There is much being made of England's recovery from 30-4 before midday but for me 4 top batsmen missed out on a relatively benign pitch. Sure NZ let England off the hook but they should be batting on the best days. There was some swing but not late and not reverse, which, I think is significant. If NZ openers can protect their middle order better than England then I think they could amass a big total particularly if the likes of Williamson get in. I think this is a well balanced test match between two relatively evenly matched sides. I am going to back whatever is odds on during day two and try and buy some protection in day 3. More will be revealed tomorrow when NZ bat but England at odds on is something I am happy to oppose on day 1. So my bet is basically NZ make a decent response to the England total and in fact take a first innings lead. I believe in the pitch and hope that we will see the draw come in to odds on and England move out to above 3's by Saturday. If that does not happen I still think I will only need to take a relatively small hit unless Anderson goes to town tomorrow. |
