No idea at all.  Guy is averaging 40 in tests, probably end second game with 2 fifties to his name.  25 and fielding in the hardest position on the ground for most of the game.  10-12 years available for him, could be anything.

Well done Joe Burns... playing for the team, not for himself

Exactly.  Better SR than most will get tonight in the Big Bash, on a turning 4th day wicket playing for his spot by doing what the team requires of him.  Terribly players...  rotflmfao

Averaging 46 now.

if he looks quality to you , then you may need a batting coach, imho
By:

When: 09 Jan 15 07:04
if you want you can deduct from his aggregate the runs he gifted india .
as brayshaw and warney said it was harder to drop than catch
soon he wont be though

what about cricinfo, do they need a batting coach?

One of the most promising young batsmen in Australia, Joe Burns will be a contender for Test honours over the coming years if he can build on an impressive start to his first-class career. A stylish batsman who plays straight, plays late and has the patience to wait for balls in his area - a trait that has become less common among young Sheffield Shield batsmen - Burns burst on to the scene with 140 on Shield debut against South Australia late in the 2010-11 season. It was the third highest score on debut by a Queensland player and he became a fixture in the Shield-winning state team the following summer, when he scored 781 runs at 41.10, placing him fifth on the competition tally. Although he didn't quite hit the same heights in 2012-13, his 587 runs at 32.61 still made him Queensland's top Shield scorer for the second consecutive season. Burns made his Australia A debut on the tour of England in 2012 and scored 114 while playing for Australia A against the England Lions in a one-day game in early 2013. At the time, Burns had just been named the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year and he finished the 2012-13 season strongly. A level-headed individual who has studied business and finance at university, Burns is the kind of character who should appeal to John Inverarity's national selection panel.

he's better than you think, you're just too stupid to see it

This game has real potential now. 2/100 at lunch tomorrow would set it up nicely. I think under Kohlis's captaincy India will try to win it

There is no way India have a sniff Charkitz. Important for them to turn over the scoreboard tomorrow rather than just block out but no cowboy shots.

Can't see it. They will play what is in front of them otherwise it is suicide ( again ) but yes it would be good to see them scoring freely and Smith keeping the field up to give them a sniff then it will be fun to watch

If Kohli does prove to be an agressive captain it'll be great for test match cricket.

The Aussies have had the most agressive/attacking captains for years and haven't had much competition in that regard. But Brendan McCullum is leading the way now, think he could put Steve Smith to shame when the Kiwis visit Oz next year
By:

Doesn't matter how good your Captain is or how aggressive if you can't bowl a team out twice in 5 days! But again yes it will make things interesting. Actually his attack at Adelaide is to be commended but I sometimes wonder if there is a team plan at all. They play so bad at times. Saha's dismissal at Adelaide was shocking but that is inexperience. He looked good today at times

Have taken some more draw at these prices. Given the match situation and Steve Smith's cautious approach last time, I think it should be about 1.5 and will trade lower during the first session day 5.

People said Kohli's 2nd inning knock on a day 5 adelaide pitch was one of the best they've seen but let's not forget that was in Adelaide which is without a doubt that flattest track in Australia

This is Sydney, that ball was spinning on right angles today and with inconsistent bounce it is going to be a nightmare, I can only see an Australian win here unless it rains of course but I don't see anyway that India are winning but at the same time I fully expect them to try and win

dec won't happen over night. Aus are old school conservatives content on letting test match cricket rapidly fall behind all of the alternatives.

NZ seem like they know how to keep Test match cricket alive in the modern day.

I would bet they will declare. It seems pointless to bat on.
By:

there's no doubt we will declare, you could just tell by the way Burns was batting that someone told him go out and bash it as we are declaring at the close of play

who's in Sydney? Could do with a balcony weather report or will Aus finish it before any rain may come? Starting to fancy a punt on the draw now at odds against...any takers?
By:

When: 09 Jan 15 16:53
yep if they bat on they will lose the possibility of the 2nd new ball

different scenario to melbourne where they were more interested in securing the series. can be more cavalier in a dead rubber

its cloudy and some chance of late showers or storm.
BUT the pitch is kangaroo edward and india would be buckleys if they had more left hand batsman
the danger area is outside off to a left hander at the randwick end.
smith may come into play today with his leg spin although the up and down bounce will suit all the quicks.
if kohli goes its curtains.
please smudge show some heart and put burns at long on and get a real fielder with a lid on in there close.
