To be fair to Cook he was optimistic that his tail would wag and not get skittled.
Draw price on its way in....flippage tonight?? |

Clever King of Dubai but too clever for me
![]() I find it hard enough at times picking a winner let alone unders and over! |
By:
the middle strip of this wicket look's excellent but the footholes gonna give England LH's some real problems round the wicket.

and Rh's with leg slips

classy from Sanga - he's lovin' it !
By:
Treasure this partnership cos it may be the last they'll have in Tests...
So pleasing to watch. |

By:
Sanga 7th straight test 50's, 4th man ever (applause)
By:
Sanga has been batting beautifully today, even better than Mahela, which, is some feat! They got 30 odd overs to make hay before the new ball

Choice of roller from the side due to bat next. Botham angry at tea because Martyn Moxon (one of the bosses at Yorkshire) told Cook that using a heavy roller was a very bad idea as it would make the pitch lifeless at the start. Cook ignored him and used the heavy roller anyway. more the case that Cook thought it would be better to dull the fierce pace of the sri lankan bowlers (who make holding and marshall look like bopara and chris harris) so batting conditions would be easier for england (despite the fact that it was movement through the air and off the seam that was causing trouble) too much is made of the fact that cook is defensive and makes the wrong decisions because of it. he is as thick as pigshit - that is his first problem, way before anything else, he is staggeringly stupid. |
By:
Thanks Joe for that!
ON TMS they said using the heavy roller was a mistake because if the top is breaking up the effect on it would be more pronounced later on. To be fair it has played ok today but tomorrow and Tuesday might be the time where it's effect will tell! You are right on that too Style. If you don't listen to local knowledge you deserve what is about to be visited upon you! |

Fat Bob Key
And i'm being serious. |

By:
Belgium looking good guys and the pitch might be about to start going through the top! Have Lanka got enough?
By:
going through the top, 7 wickets in the match, fastest and most underused bowler in the second innings?
why? because of his economy rate. it beggars belief. |

Umpires Call favours England here for lbw
By:
Yes Yes Yes
By:
Ali you beast :D Well batted nice to see the 50 but England can't afford to allow too many players to get set
By:
Shane Warne's in Australia, he'll be back soon (MCC vs Rest Of The World (captained by Warne and Tendulkar) sold out in 20 minutes, that game's in a couple of weeks).

gutted went from £84 green to £48 red. mahela is my man though and a fluent scorer. Chanidmal can bat and matthews knows he is batting for immortality so I am happy to be on SL for now. draw covered, exposed on England..a lot!

200 lead and SL still in this.

By:
Umpires call this time I reckon (on first look), not hitting

By:
No more reviews for England until the new ball.
By:
you'd think they would suspend the shipping forecast for test matches!
By:
6pm and we're 11 overs short. The cancer of Test cricket strikes again.
By:
I think the prices are astonishing!
I am over comitted already but 5's on SL are crazy! Runs on the board! England will have it all to do. I think 200 lead will be enough for SL. 250 a no brainer |
By:
you'd also think Swann might have worn a button up shirt for TMS...plebian!
By:
Why should Sri Lanka bowl England out when we seem to be finding it hard to get any movement or much spin? I can see SL getting to 350 and England having a day and a half to get 250. Easy enough surely.
By:
So you think SL will defend 200??
I'd make SL 10s to defend that. Home win ![]() |
By:
I'll take 10's!

Is your boy still leaving it to the Umpire?
By:
well done Sl well done me!
all to play for. Runs on the board! |
By:
All opinion of course, but can't have a penny on England at the moment at these prices.
Anderson (normally an ace fielder) had a bad day and may be injured. Broad was limping. When the new ball comes, will be interesting in the morning to see who's trusted with it. |

Goal for Belgium, you heard it here first

nice one Crad. Thought about a cheeky shilling at 7's but still happy! Got an extra hundred also from the free bet at Ladbrokes!

trying to persuade my Sri Lankan accountant to drive to leeds tomorrow!
By:
England a big lay here - I anticipate flip flop tomorrow
By:
I like SL position - the last two wickets down for Eng were from a very average spinner - says it all for me. The footy game was amongst the worst I have ever seen and I've watched Argentinian Premier.
