Seriously
If the isolated thundery showers arrive early at Headingley tomorrow it would make things very interesting, assuming Sri bat well first.. |

England in the box seat for me but it is a funny old game. If the clouds pass by over lunch? Can Lanka get to 300? A big ask I think. Will try and play the odds and look at limiting loss rather than praying for a win.

Could be a chance of rain after tea today, which, I think would favour SL as tomorrow is likely to be more sunny than cloudy.

As usual Headingley producing an interesting match partly thanks to the pitch and weather. Last 10 tests here, 9 results, 1 draw.

wicket needed before lunch. SL doing well

boycott spot on here.
it's been awful from england, with Cook too scared to tell his bowlers to put it in the right place. no doubt saker will tell moores to tell cook to tell broad to please, if he doesn't mind, would it be terribly too much to ask, to perhaps, every now and again, just possibly, bowl it a little fuller, if it's not too much bother. |
|
By:
and cook will of course be baffled as to why he should be asking his bowlers to do something different, given that the most important stat, their economy rate, has been outstanding in this session.

I think there is a strong chance or rain after tea. The whole match is now resting on the session up to tea. Very exciting!

Surprised the draw is the dog here.
The market suggests SL are second favourites which means they may well get a 200+ lead. At this rate they will take a long time to get there and the draw will come into play. For SL to win they of course need to bat past tea tommorrow and then bowl superbly to take 10 wickets. I would say there's more chance of them batting v.well and getting a big lead (300?) but then failing to bowl us out. 4.2 on SL seems very short.. |

England body language not good here, you wouldn't know they were still ahead on runs and we're only halfway through the test.

I don't think so Injera,
We are only just half way through this match. The only chance of rain is after tea and maybe that chance has moved on by now. Two full days, tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and Tuesday maybe slightly more cloudy. England have bowled plenty of overs from around the wicket so both sides have rough now. The pitch seems to be playing well enough now but there has already been some alarming uneven bounce that is more than likely to get worse says 4 and 5. I think Sl price is long in the circumstances. A lead of 250 might be enough. 300 and I wouldn't clear my red on England . The game is definately in the balance right now. Wow I can walk away now without a loss! Opposed England and paid the price. We might see a flip flop after tea but a long long way to go for SL on this pitch. |

Every run is GOLD?
Every run is £££££! |
|
By:
yeah reckon 250 - 300 would be a tough chase with the footholes already looking pretty deep. I'm surprised they are saying Monte Panesar is unselectable. I'm sure they would be happier right now if he was available in this match ???

the seam landing area of the pitch look's pretty good still

There is an agenda against Monty. He is uncontrollable I suppose and they cannot have that can they! Free spirits are banned and after the India series so is my cash to the ECB!

England needed that badly

Gutted I had just gone green and was hoping they would regroup at tea. Now If mahela gets off the mark with a four he will score well. Game now revolves around these two. SL still have a long way to go to post a total to defend.
|
|
By:
One would think with all the managers/coaches/hangers on, they would be able to manage Monty....
Is he really that difficult??? |

By:
Good enough!
