Does anyone know if they used the heavy roller again?
By:
For Mike Brearley's book on how to be a great captain...well this is the opposite of that.
We're about to find out how fit/unfit Anderson and Broad are. |
By:
cook needs to grow a pair now with the new ball.
packed slip cordon, gullies empty space through the covers, broad and anderson bowl full and under 220 is still realistic. |

Broad has struggled from the very outset, he is injured to some degree.
Not sure about Jimmy, will see how much he bowls now... |
By:
No 3rd slip from Cook - he's not brave enough to win this match - watch the ball fly through there soon !!

Michael Vaughan, Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special "I don't think there will be as much movement through the air but there will certainly be the odd ball that seams and it might do too much for the batsmen. Sri Lanka have asked for the heavy roller, which can nullify the pace out of the pace, but it can allow a wobble to allow the spinner to come into the game." |

jesus christ, warne criticising your captaincy is one thing, but when strauss starts having a go that you're not being aggressive enough, surely you've got to admit you're getting it wrong.

very negative cook to blame twice if dont win this test

good point Dstyle!

New ball appears not to be swinging at all - great news !!
By:
very new balls often don't. nothing by the 12th over and captain **** starts to feel sick.

yep, they need a bit of laquer to come off one side. the heavy roller will have pressed some moisture out of the pitch for the seamers.
By:
Took Sri again, looks like bad bowling will prevail for a time.
By:
The laquer WD, yes.

draw coming in big time now

England about to go odds-against.

anderson gets one more to get it right, then switch to plunkett. this isn't good enough.
By:
can't believe Cook has no 3rd slip with the new ball. bet you a fiver he puts one in AFTER a ball flys through at chest hight !

By:
Anderson has been bowling fast in this series which makes you think he is in good condition but both he and Broad look out of sorts in this match, particularly this innings!

England treat reviews like sweets, they're there, must scoff immediately.
