I know Australia are all over England at the moment, but I can't see a whole lot of reasoning that they should be 1.40. That is a pretty short price in a limited over match where anything can happen.
I do expect them to win, but would be surprised if they don't trade a whole lot higher than 1.40 at some point. |

I agree. I was thinking about having a big bet on Australia but instead I'm gonna hope for a competitive game. Thinking an early wicket or two and lay Australia below 1.20
By:
The only problem is England will have to score 300+, or look like doing so at some stage to push Australia's odds up substantially.

Ballance looks a pretty solid player. I rate Morgan very highly, Buttler very decent. Cook/Bell/Root out of form, but still capable of getting some runs between them. Stokes handy.
I expect them to put a decent score on the board. I think Finch/Warner will make it look silly quite early on, but perfect scenario here with the longer priced team batting first. Without seeing a ball bowled, I would expect with any sort of batting at all, that they go very close to 2.00 in the first innings. Rightly or wrongly. Now that changes with the pitch. A good batting pitch, and they may go shorter. Bad for batting, longer, but I still think they shorten significantly here and that is what I will be looking to do. As always, looking to do it after I see a few balls bowled to try and judge the conditions to the best of my ability. |

Feels like lump and collect to me.
You can't go in with 4 bowlers, with a green opening pair, against a destructive top 3, and think 270 is par. |
By:
I think Morgan too good for that though. Ballance holding up an end scoring at 85-90 allows players like Morgan, Buttler to get the scoring rate up.
And 270, I don't know that Aus are much off 1.40 chasing 270 already on the board anyway. The line is about 262-265. I think the 290+ will be the target and 1.75+ for the chase. Good luck if you do, but I certainly won't be joining you. And destructive top 3. Marsh is in for Watson. Marsh is very good on his day, but hasn't lived up to the potential to be classed as destructive. |
By:
Do agree with JB though. Awful Cook/Bell/Root to have as top 3. Need some spark in there. Buttler should be opening with Cook, Bell in at 3, Morgan 4, Ballance 5, Root 6, Bopara 7, Stokes 8.

Everybody asleep already?

Pitch looks a belter. Be surprised if they don't make 300-320 here, and think nowhere near enough.
By:
this is the problem. careful start from cook to be replaced with another careful start from root.
By:
Another failure for Cook.
Pietersen on this deck in place of Cook, they would be firing hard now, with Morgan/Buttler yet to come. Oh well... ![]() ![]() |
By:
Root to come in and score his 15 off 80 and set the game up for England....
By:
Or not. Root out 2/8
By:
not out imo
By:
And of course refers it.
By:
out imo
By:
root shouldn't be allowed to review decisions and neither should broad.
By:
And wastes it again.
But Pietersen the issue.... rotflmfao |
By:
Ballance in next. I expect a partnership of at least 60 here at ~5 an over....
By:
Good time to lay Australia I hope.
By:
So have layed Aus for now.
By:
that's a f*cking outrageous review.
it's a bad review if you've got 2, but with one and 38 overs left, that's unforgivable. has to be a howler. |
By:
Think because it hit him high on the thigh.
But what he didn't take into account, was it hit his front pad first, and only hit his thigh because his knee was nearly on the ground... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Either way, I am on England hard here, so hoping they can at least put something together here.
Aus -1827 Eng +5145 Don't like Ballance against the spin though. See how we go. |
By:
with one review, the first question both batsman need to ask themselves is
what's the chance of there being a worse umpiring decision in the remaining overs? |
By:
By:
Marsh hamstring shot?
By:
Ballance long gone now. England needing Ireland and NZ to save them after Zimbabwe failed them.....
By:
Nearly pure brilliance by Clarke...
By:
Why do they keep ringing that Bell
By:
commentators said it was a risky ploy by morgan. really?
wasn't it foolproof if you can count to 5? pure genius. commentators are tarded. |
By:
so morgan realises he has a free hit and that;s a 'risky ploy'? lol.
i'd be talking up morgan's genius if i was the commentator.... |
By:
This is looking just like game one now. A painful struggle for the odds to remain at what I layed then pull out as Finch and Warner may destroy England's below par total in 5-10 overs.
By:
Really need Buttler to have a go at opening I think.
By:
Bell doing what I thought Ballance would be doing. Probably about where I expected them. Still on track for 300 IMO
By:
i used to wear zinc on my lips because of dean jones!!
By:
Eng 1.50 at the moment IMO. Something has to give soon, I expect the market to shoot up. They are in front atm.
By:
Sorry, Aus should be 1.50 at the moment, not Eng and not 1.37
