BJT, watch all the English fans make a huge deal out of batting last on the MCG.

Even though batting last in the past 3 games was near enough irrelevant.. LaughLaugh

that would have hit gully in the forehead but it would have stopped 4 runs!  Come on Cook!

Batting last against Monty not a real issue.  Plus, batting last here will be batting at the end of day 3...  LoveLove

Either way, 100 behind with 3 wickets, isn't a 2.00 shot....

it's only irrelevant because you lot batted first and had the conditions otherwise Botham might well have been proved rightLaugh!

Tomorrow is going to be hot 38 degrees.  Looking better for England, what could possibly go wrong?  I think I should green out soon!

I am glad the betting population think we're a 2.00 chance to win from here, quite frankly I give us no chance unless we can take some sort of lead..

England have been batting all series to stay in the game, for the first time in a game they'll be batting to setup a victory, it's a different beast

Problem being they will try and do that by batting time, not by taking the game on and backing themselves with the ball.  Batting time, they won't make the runs needed.
I have no faith in either batting lineup, but 2.00, happy to lay all day...  Harris is a batsman turned bowler though, so no mug.

England run rate higher than Aus has made all the difference as has having first go on the wicketLaugh!

Simple game this cricket, win the toss then bat!  and I thought our Captain was the one who is not very goodLaugh!

Aus clearly don't give a siht.  Could see it from the start with Warner.  Series won.  Dead rubbers and all.
Clarke told them all, we win the toss, we bat.  Then had a play.

They will switch on and win from here, but Eng likely to put on 40-50 tomorrow without loss and send Aus to 4.00, so 2.50 well under for now.

Series is over pal, nothing like Hussain sending the other team in to bat on the Gabba (first match of the series)

No I am saying their motivation to win this game would be significantly less than it would of been in the previous 3 games when the urn was there for the taking, on the same note the English players have nothing to lose as they've already lost the series.. sort of like when you goto the bar to chat up a woman, after you have sex with her you really couldn't care less about talking to her anymore until next time

Myself I think we've been carrying a few passengers in the batting line up this series (Bailey & Watson mainly), neither has looked any good with the bat until it was time to play 20/20 cricket but when you're winning it doesn't matter

^ Agree with that statement, you cant play too defensively  in Test cricket. I feel like it takes him way too long to get going. He needs to show a bit more confidence in his own ability and even look to push singles around

Aussies have only got one player who can make first innings runs - if we'd got him cheaply at Brisbane and Perth would have been a different ball game. Or just knocked the others over while he stays unbeaten as happened today.

And Clarke aside none of their top six are test quality. Our bowlers have bowled well as a unit for the first time in the series today and we all saw what happened

so the batting looks as piss weak as it has all summer, and for large parts of this series saving some rear guards from haddin and they're suddenly not trying?

the batting is still fragile, warner is still not a test cricketer

it's your bowling that's won you the series.

Let me get this right also,

The Captain, who has been heralded as the best Captain out there, better than Dhoni and the rest, the best since Benaud and what does he do.  He wins the toss thinks about putting the opposition in.....and then doesLaugh!

Pity he could not have taken Boof out to the Toss to remind him he was only meant to think about putting the opposition in!

I don't get it.  He wins three tosses bats first and wins the Test match.  Even you lot were saying the team winning the toss wins the match before the series started... the toss is the crucial factor!  Reluctantly I defer to your better judgement but please don't tell me what a great Captain Clarke is.  Without Haddin performing miracles he would have been doing a Kim Hughes!

Love the way Clarke goes about his captaincy, very aggressive, a few captains around the world could follow his lead instead of being so **** scared of losing. But you're right, he **** up big time with the toss, a moment of madness and it could mean series finishes 3-2 instead of 5 zip
