Can you imagine if an Aussie was given out like that? there would be calls for a Republic!
By:
Iam aussie. shocking call
but then again we got a couple of same type of calls in last series |
By:
So people claiming not out, what was the noise?
By:
My question would be, why is that the only time we haven't seen it side on in real time? And no idea why they are talking about anything flicking the back pad, the bat was a foot away from the back pad, a good 4 inches from the front pad, the noise was as the ball went past the bat, and the ball deviated.
Absolute jokers.... |
By:
There have been creaky bat handles in the past BJT which have sounded like a bat. Often when the ball is nowhere near the bat you hear it make a sound.
As I said, I don't think it was out but not a real howler as couldn't really overturn it |
By:
Well I hope you are Monarchist Nick!
We don't tar you all with the same brush. Some of you descended from administrators . It wasn't a shocking decision in my view, just probably not out, bad luck. There were plenty of shocking calls in the summer but we didn't deny it. having said that some of the Australian referrals were worse than the umpiring decisions . |
By:
BJT cleary bat hit back pad showed it on hot spot
foot away LOL Good luck with that |
By:
noise was you bjt cuming in your pants!

I enjoy watching team games but the more I see of cricket, football and rugby, the more I feel that closely matched games are decided by the officials more often than the players and that is not what sport should be about. Give me individual sport like tennis or athletics where the chance of an official influencing the outcome is much less.
By:
Yes i think roger federer has taught our team when to challenge lol
By:
nick. If there is no hotspot from the ball on bat, no noise when it went past the bat, proof that the noise was way before the ball got there, and hotspot from the backpad also, then why wasn't it overturned?
Absolute gooses. |
By:
28 over session cman... Hmmm. My maths must be out because I clearly don't get 12 overs an hour from that.....
By:
67 runs and 2 wickets in that session. Think that session was a par for both sides
By:
Yes your right BJT
as always |
By:
There is still 37.0 overs left in the day, England also had 37.0 overs to bowl this time yesterday (but they only managed 34.0 overs with the extra half an hour allowance)
By:
And yes, clearly I am right, or it would have been overturned if there was proof of it being wrong as you are suggesting.
By:
in my opinion they didnt Overturn the decision because it wasnt 100% clear
if it had been judged not out and we had put the review in it would have stay not out in record time |
By:
Third umpires never make wrong decision then BJT?
By:
And yes 28 overs that session. 6 overs in half an hour before, so 13.6 an hour. Hardly miles ahead of England's 13 you moan so much about (with a higher proportion of spin bowled and only 2 wickets)
By:
the first decision, albeit mistaken, to give Root out completely understandable
the third umpire has got it wrong again though in not over-turning there is no hotspot and snicko is out of syn and the oscillation of the seam is not markedly different once it has passed the bat. it is patently obvious he didn't hit it and that is what the review system is there for, yet it has failed again as it did a number of times in the uk summer and it is the same reason - sh!te third umpires |
By:
Third Session Runs: I place it as Under/Over 110.5 runs. What would u guys go for?
By:
2:30 hours of play before stumps
By:
Nick,
Don't argue with an idiot, you can't win! I think the DRS has worked correctly. It wasn't a howler even though the evidence is that he probably didn't hit it but you can't prove a negative. I think because snicko and hotspot are highly fallible people believe what they want to from it. They explained the sound from snicko was after the ball went past the bat and they explained the technical issues about amplification of the signal, the different speeds of sound and vision etc. Unfortunately there was not enough evidence to overturn the decision c'est a vie. |

now relief

By:
BJT said it was cleary out so it must be
By:
By:
I personally think Root was not out.But...
Umpires were briefed on Realtime snicko before the series to expect the noise after the ball has passed the bat. espncricinfo.com |

I disagree Happy Valley,
We could just have Umpires in the box but that's not cricket. Mistakes happen. We just have to accept them until the technology is more reliable. You can't crucify the umpire for giving it out initially or the third umpire as he has to follow protocols. The system is developing and still needs ironing out but I do agree he didn't nick it ( probably )! |

By:
Whispering that decision should have been voided that whats it there for
otherwise just go with umpires call and it is what is Players careers could be on the line with these calls so if they look at 5 areas say to prove someone is out and 1 of them areas is a bit iffy why should it go on umpires call |

why do England's overs today suddenly not count? but yes if you like it was 27 minutes not 30, if it's that important to you |
