Not getting the rub off the green lately mate, so hopefully it goes well. Are you on?
By:
Yeah, I am happy to bet around the top three. You are getting >20's Stricker/DJ/Day/Furyk/Kooch/Spieth/Furyk/Mahan/Dufner ......... I think you can make a great book by backing all of those at 'roughies' prices

No room for Keegan?
By:
Not at this point, I think he is crazy overrated on the back of one great season. Not won this year remember
By:
Clarke not comfortable but Bailey scoring well enough for both. New ball doing nothing, I think we see plenty more runs today, and will look for another crumble after the 30th over.

Nah mate, he's a player. Plenty of top 5s, he is here to stay.

Let's hope he creates a nice trade for you as my boys battle it out

I love how Broad sledges the guy who just carted his team around the park.. what an idiot
Rubbish bowling, no way was he there for that sort of catch.. lucky as **** but they need it |

By:
2nd - I don't think he's got exclusivity over that, all bowlers do it no matter which country - always makes me chuckle.

A good days test cricket. I would be favouring laying the draw at the moment. Aussie have missed the chance to wrap up the series by giving away their wickets. The same fragilities and lack of experience were evident when the pitch was docile. England can take heart but if they do not get Aussie out quickly tomorrow they may struggle towards the end of the game.
The English batting has a fragile look about it too starting with Cook at the top but if he stays at the wicket England will get a score. I think the team that bats the longest tomorrow will go on to win the game. 450+ runs on the board puts England behind the 8. Less than 375 opens the game up for the England spinners. The pitch looks good to bat on for a couple more days if you don't throw your wicket away. |
By:
a sell of haddin runs @45 looks tempting, used all of his luck today.
By:
spreads have it about 435, enough not to loss game...
By:
What a shame carberry dropped that catch. Oh well onwards and upwards. 350 all out and it is game on. But we have to bat well which we havent done for yonks.
By:
remember, this is only the 2nd time australian top order have put together a resonable score. dont get excited yet.
day 0ne, probably even.400+ will be the aim. when was the last time england made 400? |
By:
a long way to go. they havent reached 300 yet. if it was as straight forward as saying theyll get 430 here then thered be no point playing the game. they could be all out for 312 or could be 500 for 6. thats why they come out to bat.
By:
Carberry's dropped catch could prove critical, what a dolly it was too
By:
I don't think anyone can get excited yet Smegy,
Aussie batsmen threw away a big chance to take the game to England by throwing their wickets away cheaply on a docile batting pitch but the dropping of Clarke and Haddin gives them another chance. You are right though, England will have to score big to have a chance in this match and we are waiting to see if they remember how. England have not been batting well this year but have been lucky to be playing the lesser Anzac teams. If we had batted as badly as we have over the last 12 or so test's against some of the stronger and more talented cricket nations like South Africa and India we would have been walloped! The one defeat in all that time has been chastening and a wake up call that no matter how limited the opposition, winning against weaker teams in Test Matches cannot be taken for granted! The game is definately in the balance and England look generous to me at 5.6 although I think laying the draw will be a good play to. |
By:
You would think all 4 of England's noted batsmen will need to score big, Prior averaging 12 in his last 8 games and a guy on debut.. can't rely on either of them and the tail hasn't wagged (well it didn't in Brisbane, unlike ours)
We should be favourites but the pitch looked an absolute road and the way we got out suggested it is a road, poor shot selection |

Yes!
The jury is out on England's batting. I think the nature of the pitch though and the make up of the Australian attack gives England a big chance depending how many Aussie score. MJ should not be a problem on this pitch far from it, his pace will make it easier to score on a fast outfield with short sides if he bowls to the left and to the right. If Harris does not get help with the new ball I again say it could spell trouble for Aus. Siddle is consistent but the key for England is to drive Lyon out of the attack and get after MJ. It really is all to play for for both sides. Very interesting to see people getting caught in front of the wicket. It could be exciting stuff watching England try and hit through and over short mid wickets and short extra's. If it goes well they will score quickly if not I shall be ordering custard to go with my pie. |

Plenty enough in the pitch from where I sit. Yes Aus have given wickets away cheap, but plenty of spin, and variable bounce. Watsons wicket was very legitimate in that it stopped in the wicket and bounced. Looks like Watson playing a false shot, but the pitch was his downfall there. Rogers out to a ball that deviated 2 feet from the pitch of the ball, on day 1.
5 wickets down, but the spinners will do plenty, and top spin creates more here given the curve of the ball, and Lyon will be more than effective. The Kookaburra ball has shown so far once 30 overs hits, wickets come tumbling. I am sure we see that again to finish the Aussies off. Aussies can easily score 450+, or could be gone for 320. Either way, I don't see this as the road that was talked up. There isn't the heat to dry the pitch out completely, and it isn't designed to crumble, but the footmarks are already playing a part, so can't see that improving. Game is up for grabs right now. Clarke certainly not 100%, so will take some hitting around him. Regardless of anything though, Aus have shown that on roads, they score quick. They are scoring at around 3 an over, which is high for England, and going out on attacking shots. Aus batting first in the box seat. Very little between the teams, and the coin toss in huge in games between them. Aus bowling much better than England, and anything Swann/Panesar can do, Lyon/Smith can do just as well. Been 3 dropped catches, 2 that should have been taken, 1 that was very firm, but see them taken all the time. Aus done its best to throw the advantage, but England couldn't capitalise. Sets up a good game IMO... Pretty confident we see a result. |
By:
I dont see how the jury is out on englands batting WD. It has been awful for a long time without coming up against any great attacks, saffers aside.
Our bowling is consistently good. |
By:
Anderson is on 3/196 so far in Aus. Consistant? lol.... Nothing consistant about your bowling. Rely too much on 1 taking a bag. Conditions never suit more than 1 bowler, and sometimes they suit none of them. Consistant? Ok then.
And they are the best team to ever play sport. Just ask, ummmm,, you.... rotflmfao... |

Bad choice of words Rob,
I just feel England have proven test quality batting. There are signs that things are coming together for Cook, Root and Bell. KP has such ability he may get a hundred at any time. I always felt Prior was a flat track Bully but he had such a good series was it last year and his keeping has improved no end that I thought maybe he was becoming the real deal ( though not a patch on Knotty in my book! ). I think the Aussie back room has worked out Englands weaknesses very well and their bowlers are certainly working to plan. If England don't change the pattern they will lose. I do wonder what Graham Gooch does at times? I just would not be surprised to see England getting a big score that would set the series alight. Trott going was a blessing. A lot depends on Cook for me. If he can see off the new ball his front foot will start to move more freely and he may well be the one to anchor an innings for the others. |
By:
Are you forgetting the game in Alice Springs against nobodys? How is anything "coming together"?
Nothing needed to come together for Bell. He was the only one putting scores on the board. That has fallen off. That was the 1 shining light for England. England can get a big score, but it won't set the series alight. They won't score faster than the Aussie batsmen, as per usual. Big score means draw is more than likely. |
By:
I feel the Carberry drop was probably the game and could well be the series.
Aus manage a narrow win from here and go 2 up. |
By:
We had a chance at 4 down but 2 dropped catches will be very costly unless we get them out cheaply in the morning.
By:
Australia are a dog **** cricket team. They have won just 1 test out of last 10. They got incredibly lucky at Brisbane to win from 132/6. They won't get lucky twice against a great England team which has lost just 1 out of their last 14 test matches.
This pitch is an absolute ROAD. You need a MINIMUM of 500 batting first. England will score HUGE in the first innings. And Swanny and Monty will run through the weak Australian batting on day 4 on a crumbling pitch. |

ille have a pint of that queenie..lol.
