Good point tsango, I like that approach. Would just like to tweak it a little - how about, if the ball misses the bat, the batsmen is not out Crazy

There is no argument in the world to show any reason ever how that decision was even made.

--------------

3rd umpire heard two noises, had no benefit of snicko and thought there was arguably a visible deflection on the ball. interpreted that as being enough doubt not to overrule, not evidence it was clearly out.

Did you seriously not watch the replay?  On what planet did that even look like being within 3 inches of hitting the bat?

Replay said not out.  Hotspot said not out.  Audio shows bat hitting pad and visual shows bat hitting pad and missing ball my minimum 3 inches.

OUT...

WHAT THE FCUK.....

Bet on cricket?  TBH I would be hugely disappointed if Betfair didn't take these fcukwits to court.

Yes, I understand it helps you flog the Aussies, but fair fcuking go, if you guys copped this in any match ever, you would be crying to the heavens at how hard done by you were.

if you could apply current technology to past cricket, how many howlers do you think there'd be?

what people had the benefit of in the past was a lack of conclusive evidence. it made it easier to accept decisions. but that time's never coming back. if they'd scrapped DRS, people would now be raging about the on field decision, and demanding the use of technology.

this decision was so bad, i am afraid im leaning towards something much more sinister occurring

its a sad day that that is what this great game has come 2.

the sad thing thing is, umps are bent and we have to play these stupid games with each other on these forums and media discussing 'the bad system' and 'take the bad with the good' bollocks and folly like that.

the answer is if corrupt people run a system, the system will inevitably be corrupt. cricketers are getting 'hand of godded' left right and centre and nobody is allowed to mention the bleeding obvious which is - umps are bent.

the question is, are they under threat or blackmail these umps? could be their family are threatened if they don;t toe the line. the trouble is, the umps don't know how to be more subtle about their cheating. that or they are just more ballsy and enjoy flipping the bird to the notion of integrity.

This is one decision I just cant get over. Feel gutted for Khawaja to be honest. DRS has been benefiting Eng in the Ashes from the outset, Aus being totally shafted

I think it will take 10 test series of no suspicious potential corrupt decisions to get some traders/punters back assuming they are watching.

big blow for betfair surely!!

How many people do you think would be hesitant to bet on cricket after watching this series?  How many have they lost from cricket because of the IPL?

Learning experience for me.  Apparantly, not only are you out caught if you don't hit the ball, but you are out if the ball would have gone on to miss the stumps by 3 inches.

3 inches give or take seems to be enough.

Looking again, I see minimum 6 inches between the bat and the ball.  Out caught?  And you gooses are happy.

England should have gone to the umpires and withdrawn their appeal.  Embarrassing for England that they will even claim that wicket.
Pathetic team of individuals...

there are other sports to trade.

cricket doesn't have a monopoly.

looks like tennis and other codes are the winners

A slight over reaction gents. If you want to bet on a sport that is completely honest, your options are exactly this:

A) Golf
B) all of the above

Hope Cook gives Swann a good run this afternoon. Capts have the tendancy to withdraw spinners on the first day even when they strike early and go back to all out pace attack. I know who the Aussies don't want to face although Clarke obviously usually handles him well.

Some aren't open to such scrutiny as cricket though.  When you open yourself up to honest decisions, and then rort everybody, then people will complain.

This cannot be over.

I would personally be embarrassed to even suggest this is an allowed contest....
