not totally true. day 5 ticket sales are rarely sold in advance. they'd rather have 5 thousand people paying a tenner on the door and more on food and drink on day 5 than not.
By:
no way will ECB be getting involved in making team decisions on reducing game
will be 100% with captains and coaches |
By:
That's true Lix, but as I said final day sales at Lords were risible given an exciting final day, good weather and a tenner a ticket.
A few thousand at a tenner won't do much to save a test financially struggling anyway. Of course it's better than nothing, but not enough for administrators to influence the captains in any way. |

time to back eng at 8/1 to win a 3 day game anyway. here's the blueprint..
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/shared/fds/hi/statistics/cricket/scorecards/2007/6/13741/html/scorecard.stm Game done and dusted in under 300 overs. ![]() |
By:
only going to be around 250 overs though
By:
Yes, but don't need England to win, just to be in a position to win to be quids in.
By:
will take my chances at 8/1
![]() |
By:
agreed. Like I said will be laying draw later on. Should get down to 1.12 ish I reckon. with Eng at 9's by then.
By:
just backed England at 8/1, great odds imo. Excellent chance to trade play starts.
By:
so the draw is 1.16 and no one actually thinks it will be a draw then ?
By:
windies are 50/3 or worse in EVERY SINGLE GAME THEY EVER FKIN PLAY. I see no reason why they wont be when they're batting in this. then we make a decision on whether we wanna take on Chanders and Samuels and co.
By:
It's bound to move out later on. I think it's premature to be backing here TBH with no further play likely.
By:
If Chanders is out then will move in on its own. Won't drift much further, might get 9/1 if you're lucky
By:
10s on england by tomorrow morning
By:
the channders news has already hit the market..
By:
is he out then max?
By:
i dont know for sure... but it was on cricinfo yesterday and at the same time england went from 5.5 > 4.2
By:
we'll see. A full day of no play moved the draw yesterday - see no reason why it won't again.
By:
Draw market here has been very slow since it opened ;-) IMHO, because WI are rated so poorly
By:
wont get bigger than 10.0s i agree Tony. shall be topping up if so. windies are rubbish and dont give a f uck about this test. eng will be all over em.
Follow on will be -100 if today is washed out. Even if Eng bat 1st we could get a result. Eng 370 in 100 overs WI 240 AO in 70 overs WI 200 AO in 65 overs Eng knock off 70 runs in 15 overs Total 250 overs. not a 10s shot imo on this ground. Edge is usually an action packed test venue, you tend to get lots of wkts and v quick runs here. E.g. Eng made 400 in a day vs Aus in 2005 |
By:
draw drifting..
By:
that's not unreasonable at all Lix but so much needs to go right for that to happen 8/1 shot - feels just about right.
By:
For me, WI could easily be allout for 100. They HATE cold wet weather and play like a team keen to get indoors. At 8/1 England are Great value.
By:
I can see WI going for 80-90 overs easily but not 70 and 65 in the same game
By:
particuarly without Anderson
By:
the other scenario is
WI 150 AO Eng 350 WI 200 AO more likely scenario imo and would only take about 200-230 overs |
By:
what are the prices when windies are batting and are 50/3 or worse? they are ALWAYS 50/3 or worse! less than 8/1 i reckon.
By:
Windies will really want a draw as well for pride - I would factor that in. My view is anything under 230 overs - no chance of result. 260+ overs and it will start getting interesting
By:
At Lords we had a flat pitch and cloud cover (was fairly warm) ... WI skittled 1st inns.
At TB we had a flat pitch and glorious sunshine. WI skittled 2nd inns. At Edge we should have cloud cover + cold temps and hopefully a juicier pitch. two windies collapses fairly likely imo. |
By:
yes i have a feeling it could be carnage if england win the toss and bowl tomorrow
By:
1.19 is to high..
By:
It will definitely be fun to watch that's for sure - but seems like too much hope here.
By:
Also, surely Eng will want to bat first to ensure the follow on?
By:
WI might be tempted to put ENG in as well
By:
eng bowling 1st if we win the toss is a 1.1 shot imo.
By:
1.2
By:
is there gonna be play today or something?
By:
maybe after 5pm?
By:
doubt it. might have stopped raining for a bit tho.
By:
let's hope so. I really want to back the draw higher up
