Hi Guys,
Happy to give a brief description of where I'm at. Have had a BF account since 2002 and have made minimal money over the year just backing the odd event here. My main interest is the stockmarket and that's where I've concentrated but about 5 months ago I got actively into value betting as aside line i.e. trying to get an edge - so far I've been pretty successful BUT have been banned at most of the bookies through arbitrage which is a pain but hardly surprising. Basically only stumbled upon this forum about two months ago and since there's a lot of good knowledge on here I felt it worth throwing in my two pennarth as well. I always find with web based forum I get much more out by posting myself. In fairness I've had some good calls on this market BUT let's be honest it could have gone another way and the weather could have improved but then it's about taking the prices when the odds are in your favour. Back to this market, I note we are back at 1.2 which does seems silly given bookies down at 1.1. |

by 1pm tomorrow the draw will be eves or 1.01
By:
bookies have taken a hammering on the draw nigel. they dont want to take any more hence 1.1
TRue odds on eng winning this with 270+ overs in the game are about 2/1 i think. Windies are sh1t lets not forget. |
By:
but will we get 270 overs?
By:
Lix - is that a guess or from a source? It might be true but I also imagine they took **A LOT** of money on England in advance and on England to win the series 3-0

tomorrow clear sunday 80% chance of rain ..
![]() |
By:
Radar now showing Saturday and Sunday No rain but Monday rain from 2pm. Equates to about 260 odd overs and probably explains the draw moving out slightly.
By:
draw layed need england to win toss and put WI in.
By:
not likely we get 3 full days though. bound to be some sort of significant interruption on sunday or monday
By:
what are ENG likely to do - that's the question - probably bat to ensure the follow on I'd say
By:
whoever wins the toss will bowl. bound to be moisture around after 2 days under covers.
if england bat first a real long shot of winning. something like 400 in 120 overs required then bowl out windies in 70 and 50 if the weather allows |
By:
In that scenario Windies at 36 must be worth a few quid for fun one would think then?
By:
should add - not for me though. Great arb just then between Will Hills (8) and BF (7) on England
By:
1.3 by morning on the draw i think..
By:
no way. more likely to be 1.15. However, might start moving around 10:30 if play ready to go - anyone heard anything on state of outfield?
By:
nige, 1.15? it was 1.15 this morning and it is drifting why would it come in again if we are about to get a full days play?
By:
Because people will start arb'ing the bookies like I just posted and the exchange price for ENG will move back out to 7.5/8.
By:
If a few wickets go in the first session then it'll start moving heavily upward.

Looks like CP is ok to play as well which could make the difference :

By:
love how you call him CP like those are his initials!

By:
Yeah, SC just too easy

By:
Might as well be free money on the exchange currently - whether play will take place tomorrow - 1.03 - sure someone here will take it. I've grabbed some of it.

Im hopeing england bat first as ive backed the draw and sold 4 strugleing windies batsmen series runs with sporting index so if england bat 100 overs windies only bat once unless they are shot out for low score which is also good for my spread bets. For what its worth its currently raining here in Kettering Northants

Thank's for the biog. Nigel. I was just curious re the number of posts and you being a member for so long.
You certainly have given some useful info on this thread. The majority of posters on the Cricket forum are good eggs. I don't post that often but I am an avid reader of it. |

The weather is coming from the west, so I don't think that the rain in Kettering will be affecting the match. |
By:
Forecast changed again for Sunday on met office site. rain from 10am right through.
By:
Morning everyone,
On the face of it we could still get a match which allows a min of 294 overs but with the forecast for Sunday looking bleak I think that even getting 240 overs in this match is a big ask. Unless either side has a double batting collapse, or there is an ultra brave declaration, there is just not enough time left in the match for a result. The current draw odds of .16 look really good value at this present time. GL to all |

morning.
Been clear in Brum for several hrs now. we should start on time if no more rain this morning. looks to be some light stuff headed there on the radar now tho around 8am hopefully it'll fizzle out |
By:
pah, ignore the radar, its not taking the welsh hills into effect. the rain clouds are being held there.
By:
Not everyone is bothered about an arb for a few quid, Nige
By:
Good to see our tip on England is going well Lix, I will trade out some at 6.0
By:
expected a clear day today
![]() showers 10.30 onwards for a while ![]() |
By:
looks clear to me PTTT. All about how squelchy the outfield is.
By:
covers off. looking good for an 11am start.
![]() |
By:
hope so - outfield should be fine as they worked all night
By:
tonyf - I'll take arbs everyday! Free money I never ever sniff at!
Should be play all day today. Monday is the problem now looks poor most of the day. Nice to see the odds moving out. A couple of early wickets and I imagine panic will set in even though there just isn't enough time for a result. |
By:
there's plenty of time for a result if windies are batting 1st. AO in 60 odd overs sets things up nicely. monday isnt too bad imo
By:
Just to confirm sunny near brum as expected
Now may seem daft question: it's gale force winds here, would this disrupt the game at all? Bound to make catches harder |
By:
how cold is it? t shirt weather or jumpers needed?
By:
25% return for a series of unlikely events happening:
Two batting collapses by same team. Minimal further rain disruptions (Monday looks like rain all day per most forecasts now) Managing to get through >90 overs in the day Not impossible at all but probably a 10% chance of this happening. Great risk:reward for my money. |
