Gooch used to make stacks of runs with the sweep on the sub continent. Obviously he has told the batsman to play the shot, but they aren't as good as him and, much more importantly, there was no DRS in his day. You very rarely got out seeping in the 70s and 80s.

I have no problem with mocking India's performance in those series steps, they were woeful in them, and deserved all the greaif they got. Englands performance deserve the same kind of mockery right now, especially this one. This is a flat pitch and an extremely average attack. How England have found themselves in this situation is beyond excuses. Mock away one and all. |

Better led, knew their roles steps. This is a better side, their approach in pakistan and sri lanka has been terrible, i'd like to blame flower. But that would take away from the terrible decisions a lot of the batsman have made in the middle. I would suggest they have 3 innings to make up for it all a few of them could be moved on.
