can't see what you are basing your confidence on dawsy take roughly the middle of the expected runs about 175 leaves england 300 which they have scored only once in their last seven innings i think you will get a tidy price and gl but I can't see any reasoning for this chase to be successful highest match partnership so far 62 it is unusual for this to be highest in 4th innings obviously there are exceptions highest score england have chased down in sri lanka lot less than 300 and there is lots more

Not for the 1st time I agree with ekkers - and I would also just like to say nice to see you on the thread mate aint seen you commenting for a while
. I actually think England could chase anything less than 350. The Sri Lanka attack is very very average, in the 1st innings England gave a lot of wickets away, it wasnt particulary through bad technique more bad shot selection which hopefully will not be repeated 2nd dig. I am happy with the 9/2 I snapped up about England and do not plan on giving any of it away. World number 1s will hopefully show why! This is Bav signing off. |

How you can fancy Eng to chase 300+ 4th digs, if that is what is set, on current form is beyond me. Herath and Randiv aren't of the class of Ajmal and his pals but still claimed 8 of our wickets. What is suddenly going to change when we bat again?
Only positive I take from Engs first dig is Bell might be getting back to form and the lower order scored quite freely which should shove a rocket up the a$$ of the "proper batsmen". |

I just believe England are better than they have shown of late, I dont rate Sri Lankas bowling and it isnt beyond the realms of realism England could chase 300.

In the winter tour so far Eng have only scored 300+ once of the 7 test innings they have played. Hope im wrong but I expect 250 to be more than enough.

England played some terrible shots in the 1st innings, but they also played some terrible shots in the pakistan series. I'm not sure mid game they suddenly find a way of making the right shot choices under pressure in the middle in a 4th innings run chase. Given that the two highest succesful chases at this ground are 96 and 6, it's hard to be confident as an England fan.
Think England would have a chance chasing anything under 280, wont be favs by a long shot, but have a shot, cook the most inform England bat in these conditions didn't score 1st knock, he could well be the key to any sort of half decent effort at chasing in the 4th dig. |

By:
That said if they don't a wicket in a minute, all this can they chase 280-300 will be irrelevant

As much as it pains me to remember, we didn't chase 140 odd at abu dhabi

Trigger finger ready to shift all my red over to England here.
By:
too high for me
By:
what was the general run line before play started?
By:
before play today
By:
170ish
By:
Ty, seems high considering the overnight score.
Praying for a quick conclusion to SL innings and a reasonable start from Eng and get rid of some of my red. |
By:
Athers thinks SL win 8 maybe 9 times out of 10 from here (292 ahead with 1 wicket left). SL good value then at 1.4!
By:
yep this is pretty dredful from england and broad, market about 20 ticks too high here
By:
His dismissal of jaya off a no ball has already cost 18 psychologically damaging extra runs. Criminal.

40.00 £22
on 175runs |
By:
Market seems fairly stubborn doesn't it? Are england really shorter than 3/1 to chase something like 320 here?
By:
no
By:
Fact is, these few extra runs, will make no difference as England will not pass 250, in my opinion
By:
Nothing wrong with pitch, So why couldnt England chase these?
By:
make a fairly big pschological difference. but i'm with you, market in complete denial
By:
should be about 1-6 here SL
and there certainly is something in the pitch |
By:
The fact that this lower order/tail put on 120 today should give england hope
Its just impossible to back our top order |
By:
they ain't chasing 325 to win on here steps. not happening
By:
Agreed
might see fair bit higher than 1.32 on sri lanka again though if openers see off 5-6 overs of seam |
By:
There have only been 16 higher run chases EVER in test cricket.
With England's batting against spin in these conditions, I fail to see why anyone thinks England have anything other than an outsiders chance of winning this. 3-1 is ridiculous. |
By:
Completely agree. Market wrong. Not saying enlgand won't win (i don't think they will) but the odds don't reflect there chances at all
By:
huge price on sri lanka here imo
expected 1.2 at least for a 325 chase when england are 80/5 that 1.32 will be long gone |
By:
Broad's no ball has now cost 40 runs. England should be chasing 293.
By:
the reaction when patel didnt take that catch says a lot me thinks
By:
agree maddog, Wasnt the best...did well imo and would have been some 2 motion catch if taken...
By:
40 runs these 2 have put on - not good enough from england. need to get it wrapped up asap
By:
lead edging closer to 350 here and market still gives us 1.3 on sri lanka
By:
Chelsea- I cannot understand this, although I'm reluctant to get involved here as I'm scared someone knows something that none of us do!
By:
highest partnership of the SL 2nd innings this.
By:
market love in with england, hsppy to take the 1.3

By:
look comfortable these 2....
By:
sudoku think its a case of people are looking at it as tho if a number 11 can get runs with ease then the pitch may not be as bad as some think meaning a better chance for england to get the runs, personally think after that no ball england have lost the game you can just see it in them
