Also
DRS is to be used in this series with snickometer but no hot spot |
|
By:
I thought they always said they couldn't use snickometer because it takes several minutes to calibrate correctly? Has something changed that makes it viable?
Could easily cause more problems than solutions because we often get situations where there are loud "snicks" heard on the stump mic but nothing shows on Snickometer. |
|
By:
Snicko needs to be used in conjunction with common sense and eyesight. IMO it is not better or worse than Hotspot if used properly.
The other day when Smiths decision was not overturned, later the snicko pictures shoed a sound but that was after the bat passed the ball and could have been overruled by Snicko though it couldnt with normal audio. |

England are massive here at 3.5 now imo. My strongest pre-match play in a while.
England are as well prepared as they could be for this - Lankans have been carting their sorry selves around Oz and Bangladesh in endless one-dayers, culminating in losing to everyone at the Asia Cup. Just don't see any department where Sri Lanka are superior - if it's a flat track England have better discipline and control, if it's a turner they have the better spinners. Many commentators highlighting SL batting strength, but if you look at the Tests played by the 'Big 3' since the start of 2011; Sanga averages a decent 48, but Dilshan just 34 and Mahela 24. In the same period Ian Bell averages 71. The absence of Matthews massive for SL as he gives the side some balance. Bottom line is number one side in the world is 3.5 versus a side that has won 2 test matches in the last 2 years. |
|
By:
england perhaps a bit big, but we saw what happened in the desert and sri lanka at home can be daunting. they have won their fair share of matches at home recently.
|
|
By:
Sri Lankans will be glad to be home, i think they will compete well, as they usually do. just very disappointed that Bopara is being given another chance though, he hasn't got the balls for TMC, he might BS his way through this flat tracked episode but would you really want him on your side against the Aussies or S.A in a pressure situation? no. the guy is a walking accident waiting to happen. Ramprakash the 2nd. Hick the 3rd. I hope he fails, because i want England to be successful.

ravi clearly not in the top 6 best batters in egland
![]() is he even in the top 10 ![]() |
|
By:
he's just like a cat on a hot tin roof in tests, this is the third time they have let him have a go at it. most guys don't even get one chance? beats me. well it doesn't, but this being a nice place and all, haha
|
|
By:
they are looking for the batsman who can bowl a few overs a la collingwood or bowler who can bat (i.e. all rounder)
thats why patel has even a sniff of getting near the test team once bresnan is back they will both be playing county cricket again |

great start by england
nice to see session runs suspended 40 mins into play |
|

market really doesnt fancy england
3.3-2.6 with 4 pretty cheap wickets in SL |

Not even an official thread for the world's number 1 test team

Market has a lot of faith in this Lankan tail.
England are way too big for me as well. |
|
By:
Twitter seems pretty quiet too.
|
|
By:
Twitter actually pretty quiet as well - most of the active tweeters are at the game.
Agree England's price still looks high especially realtive to the SL price. Really very little left after these two - second new ball could clean SL out. |
|
By:
Draw price is particularly low
we expecting a day to be washed out? |
|
By:
Exactly - if SL are going to win this, and they are sub 3, the draw should be much further out.
Market in fear of what happened to England in Pakistan - think this will be different. |

What is the link for the twitter thread. - I'm new to twitter

morning all.
decent start for England, Prasana has good form against England with a century and 2 40's in first innings in England last year. Fancy Lanka to end up about 250-270/8 at close of play. A lot resting on the main man to stick around though |

StarttheTT - you will need to set up your own twitter account and then follow forumites from there.
Once you have a few you can look at who they follow and that will open up more. |

Not sure where all this negative stuff about Swann is coming from, last 12 months he has 39 wickets from 11 matches at an average of 30, bowled absolutely fina all day today, unlucky not to have a wicket.

very pleasing all this
|
|
By:
Wow.
Why isn't the draw double figures by now? |
|
By:
the odds suggest no one has a clue what a par score is really.
Lanka at less than 200 runs for 7 wickets now have a better chance of winning than at the start on a ground where draw was favorite and so obviously lots of runs were expected! Personally I think England's bowling will prove too good for Sri Lanka. England will probably bat for a long time first innings before making good use of the worn pitch in the second innings. |
|
By:
wondering the same
must be weather about this is a result ground as well |
|
By:
costly?
|
|
By:
its a good track this
|
|
By:
i reckon par should be at least 350
market thinks differently |

jaya is just brilliant what a superstar

Strange market! Massive drift just before the new ball!
|
|
By:
Jaya one of the classiest bats ever
good brain as well. pretty important partnership this. was a costly drop from anderson |
|
By:
can't be having Sri Lanka favorites here. think England will make 400 or so here and will do well bowling at Lanka second time round.
|
|
By:
the draw is a nuisance
the draw could very well go odds on if england get 400 |
|
By:
turning into one of the best counter attacks in recent history this. just so good to watch when like this, like brian o' driscoll hitting a gap, tiger destroying a 600 yard par 5, etc...
