BBC Andrew Kerr
@BBCandrewkerr @Jackson_Carlaw has told the BBC he’s made his views known to Downing Street and that Dominic Cummings should now consider his position. Proving to be too much of a distraction in the efforts to tackle coronavirus. |

trashing walking in the blue bells story, cummings admitted to it even though his wife said he couldn't get out of bed for 10 days, the witness said at the time he deffo saw him in woods but wouldn't swear to the date,if he ever and his wife ever had corona who no,s you don't go for walk in the woods you don't leave the house ,even if its the wrong house, for exactly what happened they bumped in to someone in the woods |

I couldn't really care less about Dominic Cummings, but the media really are something sometimes, they are the ones's who are making him appear a distraction by offering wall to wall coverage of a car journey, then they report that he should consider his position because he's too much of a distraction, it's pure manufactured news, vast majority of the public really couldn't care less, it's mostly political activists and the like. I'd even say it's embarrassing, if I tuned in the last week having known nothing of this situation I'd have assumed he had killed someone in a hit and run accident or something. Yes he probably should resign but the sheer manipulation by the likes of Sky and BBC to keep this as their top rolling story reminds me why journalists are not trusted by the public. I've also noticed how often they cherry pick guests to suit their own narrative or interests, just the other day they wheeled out a Priest, dressed for camera with his dog collar and all, from the Labour centric city of Liverpool to put more pressure on and to recycle hourly, they literally hope he resigns not because they are necessarily anti Tory, but because it would create more endless breaking news stories with untold public figures weighing in over the next few days. That's the problem I have with the media, they often don't just report the news they create it.
We should have a press that is free to be neutral, but instead we have a press that is instead free to manipulate, pretty much every one of our major newspapers for example are biased politically. That only teaches people what to think rather the people learning to think independently. I suppose it'll never change. |

What exactly has he done that is so wrong ?
I just don't get it. Millions broke the rules everyday , and continue to do so and yet the same people are frothing with rage at Dom !! Bunch of hypocrites - At least man up and admit it ! |

By:
none or very few of them knowingly with corona and none of them helped draft the laws, small details you,ve forgot and none of them threw their 4 yr old in a car whilst they tested his vision out on a 60 mile car trip on windy country roads, but thar ya go

Who exactly has he put at risk and how ?
|
|
By:
if people arnt bothered they arnt bothered and hopefully ,none of the 65,000 deaths are one of there,s
but a quick count uo I reckon he broke at least 6 guidelines 1,went back to work at downing st after spending 2 hours with a wife he said clearly had corona symptons left the house and travelled with someone with corona symptons to durham said he went down with corona symptons, but unbelievably left his isolation to take his symptons in to a hospital left his isoilation whilst apparently bed bound with corona for a jolly in the woods went for a barnard castle jolly against the police/government lockdown advice, and that's what he,s admitted to |
|
By:
...but still no confirmation that you have followed all the rules ? - So you can do as you please - the rules don't apply to you ?

By:
Sacking Dom won't get us back in the EU - You do all know that ? - That bird has flown.

Don't want thoroughly untrustworthy individuals at the heart of government. |

Hi Johnny, my family followed the rules. My mum has stayed at home and hardly seen anyone in weeks. Her best friend caught it working in a school just before shut down. She died and my mum wasn't even allowed to attend her funeral. So don't preach to me about hypocrisy.
What he's done wrong is in sitting in on SAGE meetings where the guidance was formulated, then sat with the PM and helped draft the rules and then think they didn't apply to him when it became inconvenient. So his wife got ill and he's got a small child. Does he think he's the only one? There are probably hundreds of thousands of families who have been in exactly the same position in recent weeks. They'll have been worried at what to do if they both get really ill. Difference is they rang 111, got given government advice to stay at home and abided by it. They didn't cross the land to mommy's country estate and then lie about it and get their powerful mates to say that he only did it because he's a real dad who really loves his family. As long as they persist with having one rule for us and another for themselves then we'll continue to hold them in contempt. |

Perhaps on Sunday you watched the entire nation being lectured on what constitutes fatherly responsibility by Boris Johnson, a man who won’t even say how many children he has, and leaves women to bring up an unspecified number of them.
Perhaps on Monday you watched the Guardian’s Rowena Mason being lectured in journalism by Johnson, a man sacked from a newspaper for fabricating quotes from his own godfather, and who blithely discussed helping a friend to have another journalist beaten up. Perhaps today, you heard Michael Gove tell LBC he has “on occasion” driven a car to check his eyesight. If you did see these things, I can only direct you to the slogan flyposted all over Paris during the 1968 civil unrest. “DO NOT ADJUST YOUR MIND – THERE IS A FAULT WITH REALITY.” The term “gaslighting” is much overused, but let’s break the glass on it for the events of the past few days. As for “indefensible”… well, I don’t think that word means what you thought it meant. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/may/26/dominic-cummings-boris-johnson-terrified-sack-him |

He clearly had more options, not many people can access an empty self contained property on private land. You have once more missed the entire point. It's not about have access to a self-contained property it's the fact he drove for over four hours to get there. Many people could have driven to family/friends to get help but because of Cummings' rules didn't. |
|
By:
I already mentioned, the leadership of the Mail has changed, and the editorial direction along with it. In my opinion the media is heavily influenced by social media these days, and thinks it has to be extreme like click bait. There is very little balanced content produce by any media now, Even the FT is ultra woke and opinionated, when it should really be a factual production.

Since when did awareness of social injustice become a non factual matter ?

In your opinion they should have stated, in the situation you have a four year old child, think you will have to self isolate with your family, have a massive public profile, usually live in a location where you often get intrusive hounding by the press, if your parents have a self contained living space where you have younger family on hand to support if needed, and can get there maintaining social distancing, it's lawful.
Let's break this down. Four year old child - not exceptional Have to self isolate - not exceptional Public profile - not exceptional if indoors Often intrusive hounding - any actual evidence they were being hounded at this time. Parents have a huge estate with a spate house - yep, pretty exceptional for plebs anyway Younger family on hand - amusing from you as you were still saying it was his parents helping out and hadn't picked up on the swift draft change. They also had family available in London btw. But no friends apparently. It's lawful - well Durham Police will decide that. I appreciate he has options. He's clearly from a very wealthy family and has married into another one. Unfortunately for him he's also in a huge position of responsibility. More so than any other person he is behind the guidelines and instructions to STAY HOME. There were plenty other rich people trying to flee London to their second homes too. But they're not a huge part of government, given Downing St to make their jackanory statement. This is all about responsibility and abuse of power to treat other people as second class and yourself as above the constraints of the lower classes. When other people have suffered greatly then it's only natural from them to feel angry when a government official floats above that because, he simply can. |

Funny how when the Tory rags were all supporting them you never heard a tory supporter say they weren't giving a balanced view. Now it's all about how unbalanced they are. |
