There's a couple of things really. The over analysis of what he did is just that. Whether you think you would have done the same, or think he should have taken a less preferable option to set a good example is not really relevant. He answers to the police in regard to the law and the PM in regard to his job. It's not up to the mob, opponents or the media to decide he should lose his job.

My genuine opinion is that the journey to Durham is fine, the 30 mile trip to Barnard Castle is much less justifiable. However his explanation is good enough for his employer.

This Government passed a very draconian Coronavirus bill, without any vote in the Commons and will be LAW until for TWO YEARS. This has empowered the police to get out on the streets and into the little peoples faces and fine them for far less than what Cummings has done. Same old, same old, one rule of the plebs another for the new elites.
