Hard to tell who was worse, Cummings or the journalists. With the notable of Gibbon, were those the best we have to offer? First of all there needs to be an investigation of the change of statement from Durham Police. Why? Then we have the reasons why he 'had' to leave the property having not informed anyone in authority or sought medical advice first. Why? It doesn't sound as if there was an immediate threat to life so wasn't the idea to call 111? Then he says he didn't explore any other avenue for childcare other than making a 250 mile trip? He even mentions about 'threats'being part of his reasoning. That needs confirming. Had he ever complained to the police? Then we have this business of the trip to test his eyesight. How convincing was that? I am assuming in all of this that his wife doesn't drive? If that is the case what would have happened had Cummings fallen ill during any of the driving? Then we still don't know if and when he recounted his 'story' to Boris. Both of them didn't appear to give a monkeys until the paper revelation. |

My daughter (mid 20s) lives about 250 miles from me ...Her flatmate continued going out when lockdown hit ...He just shrugged when she asked where he kept going ? . She was effectively confined to her bedroom (working from home)...I have plenty of room in my house ...What was the safest and most reasonable course of action ?

I see where you are going, but don't try to draw comparisons between a very high level Government Adviser who was responsible for Government policy and and a Government that had also just passed a very draconian Act (which is law for TWO years!). You see many people DID stay in there bedrooms because that is what they were told to do. These are the sacrifices people have made to help fight the virus. |

I understand that Winning - but this thing is not black and white for everybody - it is multi- layered for millions .
Whatever he did was low risk , and he thought was in the best interests of his family. Any parent would have reacted in a similar type of way (maybe not exactly the same way) - let's keeps a sense of proportion - He wasn't attending some underground rave! Far more of a risk legally joining the hordes shopping for six months of loo rolls, or taking the tube to work - (even without any virus). |

Will Cummings survive ... the public reaction over the next day or two will count ... if public polls go against or public places become more crowd friendly as a result of apathy towards lockdown then he is toast ... if something else happens and the headlines move elsewhere then he might ride it out short term
Johnson will be worried about public reaction and how it affects him as he is driven to be liked so adverse opinion very relevant ... |

Well yes and no Johnny! You see I'm of the opinion that cramming a young child into a enclosed space for a 250 mile journey with suspected coronavirus is high risk! A day later the child had to go to hospital - it seems he had caught his mother's vomiting virus
 Now you can argue that he was going to catch it anyway, but seriously, a 250 mile drive in that situation is the complete opposite of what I would have done if I was of right mind. |
