Sir Roger Gale MP
@SirRogerGale

While as a father and as a grandfather I fully appreciate Mr Cummings’ desire to protect his child. There cannot be one law for the Prime Minister’s staff and another for everyone else. He has sent out completely the wrong message and his position is no longer tenable.

That was after it emerged that she had gone to her holiday home with the family twice, and the SNP had lied about the reason. She was the public face of Scotland's campaign. So yes once it emerged she was taking day trips to the beach with her family while going on telly telling everyone there to stay at home her position became untenable as the CMO.

No. I was saying the reaction was uncomfortable and OTT, read the thread.

But here you are on this very thread claiming that the reaction to the Scottish lady was "uncomfortable and OTT".  Now which hat have you got on today?

It was yes. It was a public shaming and an embarrassment to the SNP. That doesn't mean that once more facts emerged that it didn't mean her position as the CMO didn't become untenable. Those are two different things. The bigger question is why the SNP were so relaxed about her misdemeanors, and felt it was appropriate for her to take part in the press briefing, and in fact lied and tried to cover up what she had been up to. Se should never have been put in that position.

First of all, I will correct you. The Scottish government is the term you are looking for, not the political party the SNP. It appears to me that you were desperate for the Scottish lady to be fired...

But then when I said you had been baying for her blood (as you were) today you claimed...

You aren't believable Cider. You are just making it up as you go along but can't recall your lies.

might not bother the tory cabinet, but on marr, pippa crear well respected, experienced journo putting her career as a serious journo on the line here ,backing theses stories up,she,ll be a laughing stock if they turn out to be false, said they,ve spent weeks interviewing, reinterviewing the witnesses ,should be very easy for downing street to prove cummings was in London on day of supposed 2nd visit, the fact they havnt after 12hrs with tory backbenches calling for him to go,says its probably true, doesnt it

To be fair, Cider's floundering badly. He missed yesterday's update to the story and is still going with the staying with the parents line.

Can't see Dom going - for him to do so would be to admit he'd done something wrong - which would then implicate Pericles who must have known all about it.

Only way out would be to use the "become a distraction" excuse.

I think the government are being extremely unfair on Grant Shapps. He is being shuffled from daily briefing to interview on one channel to one on another channel. It'a as if they wish the damage to be limited to only him being humiliated if things go belly up. Where is the PM? This is a very serious situation. We can't have a government telling us to protect our families in this pandemic and issuing guidelines to do so, only for them to throw the rule book out the window because it doesn't apply to them. What about the police? The government are placing them in a ridiculous situation. If Cummings can do it, so can I !

I think the Country needs Boris and Cummings

Boris and Cummings are Damned if they do, and Damned if they don't when your opposition has an agenda.

Politics seems to no longer be about taking care of the people, it seems to be a perpetual witch hunt in some shape or form fuelled by vanity, egotistical and narcissistic self-promotion.

There is no pressure on Cummings apart from that generated by the hysterical media and we all know what their agenda is and where their loyalties lie.

If they want Cummings, then everyone who also did the same must go (i.e. Stephen Kinnock).

'Let's not lose sight of the fact he is not an MP, just a man like you or I who just happens to have landed a good job working for the Government and seems to be doing such a good job certain people with a certain political leaning cannot cope with it (it’s the UK version of Trump derangement syndrome)

Just look at how the Democrats in the USA are eating themselves alive daily, i feel their politics has descended into political farce and our political system seems to be not far behind.

Should every member of the public resign if found guilty of breaking the guidelines, how would that help business.

Some people’s recreational drives are longer than others.

The people who keep on about these rules flouters need to understand they are supporting Totalitarianism..........the legislation was fired like a rocket through Parliament quicker than the Ben Bill...........no scrutiny whatsoever..................this is not democracy

The Lib-Lab-Con government is continuing to portray we are a democratic society.........far from it..........there are far too many instances daily of Laws not being enforced for no other reason than a NWO agenda policed by a PC culture and corrupt politicians.

When the people start policing the people then you are no longer a free society.

All Governments whether they promote Socialism, Marxism, Communism or Capitalism are Totalitarian by nature, they all want your money and to control every aspect of your life.

It's just a matter of how much force the Government are prepared to use to control the population............the more they struggle to keep control and push their agenda, the more the veil slips and the use of force becomes ever more visible.

The UK is supposedly a democracy but for decades we have witnessed a continual erosion of free speech and an increase in Police brutality and a draconian, Nazi inspired attitude toward the people the Government is supposed to serve.

Remember the Police are there not to protect you but to keep those in power in power!

I never thought the day would come when i would rather not be living in England. It is turning into a Totalitarian **** hole populated by the types of people who are only going to drag this country and its society into the gutter.
