Whatever politicians may say the public want this preventable killings by cowards/terrorists from the Islam faith to stop - period. Nothing less can be accepted, I firmly believe; rhetoric after rhetoric do not mean anything unless it's stopped for good. Thus, start with the perpetrators, and their connections eg family, relatives, faith, friends, etc.
I think the family plays a big part in their education otherwise this cowardice killings would not be this religion specific. My take is start targeting the possible sources and causes of this cowardice act; put political correctness in the back burner for the time being. And, shoot 1st talk later - that's my motto for this cowardice act. |

If any terrorist attacks any passerby with the intention to kill brandishing a weapon eg a knife yes shoot 1st, talk later to incapacitate the offender; if offender deems to be wearing a suicide vest shoot-to-kill must be implemented as the lives of police officers and others are in serious jeopardy.
The authorities need to send a strong and unequivocal message to these cowards/terrorists who prey on the innocent and ordinary folks; the messages must be detrimental and absolute - no 2nd chance. It's tough, but absolutely necessary to deal with this cowardice act. Drugs dealers and murderers in some countries face the automatic death penalty - no mitigation. |

We don't base our criminal justice policy on the wishes of victims or their families.
We give them support and sympathy and (silently) thank the Lord that it's not us and hope it never will be. But we categorically do not change political policy because of what a victim or their loved ones say in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy. Liam Neeson was roundly castigated for wanting to kill black people after a friend of his was attacked by one. We no more thought this was a reasonable, proportionate response than we should the thoughts of Jack Merrits father. |

Personal emotion and feeling can skew one's normal and rational direction of views, but it's understandable. However, Islamic terrorism or any form of terrorism by any entity on the streets of London and elsewhere cannot/must not be tolerated - despicable behaviours and acts must be thwarted and/or stopped permanently.
Similarly, the demand and prominence of one minority group/community in UK cities/towns and British Politics over another or others cannot/must not be tolerated or allowed to happen esp if that community chooses to refrain from integration, the use of English in public workplaces, acceptance of British values, customs and traditions. I believe Islamophobia is an overused term by the community to achieve and facilitate their dominance over another eg to attract attention and to gain importance and advantage over others. Personally, I think Islamophobia is a "subtle" racist term concocted to suit, and counterproductive as it only refers to one dominant minority group eg no Christianityphobia, Judaismphobia, Hinduismphobia, Buddhismphobia, etc. I believe other minority groups are keeping shtum, but realise, understand and monitoring situation awaiting direction or outcome of the ramifications of Islamophobia. The UK are a tolerant and fair country to individuals and communities who are law abiding, courteous, open-minded and willing to integrate to achieve a cohesive British society conducive to going forward successfully - socially and economically. That's my motto of immigration. |

Glad it's not just me who is staggered by Mr Merrit's Father.
He even used the word 'slash' regarding budget cuts. Mind boggling... He says his son would be horrified if he knew his death would be leading to 'hate' and 'throw away the key' style imprisonment. I had to do a double take.. I thought Khan was the one expressing hate?!!!  I thought his son would be still alive if we had tougher sentencing??? Surely more 'love' towards the majority would have kept these 2 people alive??? Did this father feel the bloke with the fire extinguisher was a little too aggressive?? |
