The Edinburgh Fringe is a fairly bizarre thing with lots of wacky goings on. Bercow could pass a motion on stage and they'd think it was part of an act.
An entire month of it. That's longer than Chuka Umuna normally stays in a party.

a true democracy would allow the people a choice to change their mind due to all the controversy and its very simple to solve, ask the people "DO YOU WANT A SECOND VOTE ON LEAVING THE EU"answer yes or no.
if the people answer no=leave
if the people answer yes=have a second referendum.
then the country would be united because it was they who decided and got their chance to change their mind.

The Speaker's job is to protect the House of Commons, not the government. Any Speaker would be opposed to proroguing the Commons. Even in Putin's Russia they'd raise an eyebrow. Who'd have thought a year ago it would be the Conservatives and not Corbyn's Labour that represented the greater threat to our democratic institutions?

Upholding democracy is the speakers job. How can it possibly be biased saying parliament will get a say? The only people who don't want parliament to get a say are fascists.

A true facist statement in itself, Parliament had there say, it was a peoples vote which Leave won, you might have heard about it over the last 3 years, which you try to bury

you couldn't make this shoite up never mind write it,bercow is the only person in this without a vote in theory he could be beaten by 660 votes to nil if al mp,s decide to back either mays deal or no deal,

Good for John Bercow. He's absolutely right.
Parliament is sacrosanct. Can't be disbanded on the whim of a PM.

Almost laughable how the knuckle dragging brexiteers spent the whole run up to the referendum shouting about parliamentary democracy. Now they don’t seem to like it.

Suck it up snowflakes. If you don’t like our system go and live somewhere else.

The public voted to leave the EU.

498 MPs voted for Article 50 which would take us out of the EU.

And now one man could stand in the way of it being implemented.

Is this democracy?

the public who voted to leave were promised a deal
a better deal
the easiest deal in history
they were promised to bring back control, bring back democracy to mp,s in the house of commons

one man is trying to bypass all 3 of the above ,is that democracy

raise you

The public I'm sure did not vote to leave the EU without a deal.
If there was another referendum today, the result would be vety different.
In 2016, the electorate voting in the referendum were conned.

By the way anti democratic remainers are trying to make sure you can never vote to leave again
By taking no deal off the table
You will not get the option to leave if remainers get the chance , don’t trust them

Thank goodness we have the tories party , for all its faults it will try to uphold the will of the British people and take us out of the EU

It's amazing how these remainers manage to twist the facts to suit their argument then believe the distortion they've created.

I sum them up as poor losers who are attempting to overturn the democratic vote of the people.

ffs if you win a vote promising
a , a deal
b, a better deal
c, the easiest deal in history,

how is undemocratic to argue against no deal which wasn't mentioned, advised at all during the reff

its like voting in the torys and sitting by doing nothing when they invoke all Corbyn policies on the basis you voted us in that's a mandate to do as we please

Utter tosh, how can 1 man stand in the way of it, he doesn't even get a vote in the house, he just wants to make the sure house gets a vote, and then I think you find it will be a lot more than 1 vote.

By:
n88uk
When: 15 Aug 19 14:11
Well I suppose technically he does get a vote actually, he just doesn't exercise it very often.

The precedent you'd set through the shutting down of parliament as the PM can't get their own way would be unbelievably dangerous, it'd just mean any time a PM can't get their way why does it matter, just shut down parliament and do what you want. Don't imagine the same people wanting this would be too thrilled at Corbyn using this precedent in a few years time.

.....but, but, but last week "we dont need a trade deal" !!!  Seems you are a bit confused again.

Anyway  trade deal?  Pay your debts.......guarantee citizen rights...... agree backstop (NI or UK, either will do).  And around we go again.

Basically we sign the Withdrawal Agreement now, or we  sign it later?
