its the sheer arrogance for me, with her ...sweeping past journos tonight she said defenders already spoken ...mentioning victoria coren as though , we, the thick underclass who can't grasp jokes , must doff our cap to a unelected queen of the ultra left wing london intelligent force that is the guardian of our moral compass.... that stance is why the so called ' right wing' is doing well in our mixed up , angry political times .

Jo Brand says she's not employed by the BBC so they can't sack her. Does she work for free, or is there some scheme in place to reduce the BBC's or Brands tax or national insurance bill, or am I missing something simple and obvious about her pay arrangements?
|
|
By:
She's not funny but she's every right to say what she likes.

She may not work or the BBC but she gets shitloads of work for them. She was on "would I lie to you" last night as well.
I've commented previously on here how the BBC employs virtually no "right wing" comedians as as soon as they out themself or offend the Diversity Broadcasting Corporation they seem to stop getting work. Like Andrew Lawrence who used to appear on the BBC regularly but has stopped appearing. HE joked "Given that about 80% of suicides in the UK last year were committed by men, if feminists truly wanted equality, they'd kill themselves ;)" (Which is actually funny ![]() !)https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/bbc/12057110/BBC-urged-to-ban-right-wing-comedian-Andrew-Lawrence.html Lefties were up in arms, not appeared on the BBC since. |
|
By:
(Leftie Frankie Boyle has tweeted far worse and far more often, yet he's rewarded with his own series to sit and spent 30 minutes of leftie remoaner rants with his guests whom every time it's blindlingly ovious area always chosen first and foremost on diverstity and gender box ticking criteria).

Does such a thing exist? Jim Davidson, maybe. |

Well if the BBC and the Feminists are prepared to endlessly) bang on that a reason womens sports aren't growing or popular is they aren't given enough support and airtime, and overcompensate (as numerous threads on Betfair have commented) .. it would be pretty damned hypocritical and contradictory for them to pretty much blanket ban anyone who isn't PC or leftie or remoaner from their comedy shows and give them zero exposure then say "there aren't any non left wing comedians"?
(That sound you are hearing is the back of the net flapping ![]() ) |

Thank god it was your lots parents' generation that actually fought in ww2 and not you lot (although by the amount of people wearing their relatives medals last week they seem to think they actually did the fighting and should be thoroughly shamed for wearing them - my granddad, who fought in ww1, would be fecking livid!) as you are so thinned skinned that you'd be surprised that the other side had guns as well! This thread seems to be running out of steam fellers but fear not - the next manufactured right wing outrage will be along soon......

You are NOT right to say what u want What does that even mean? We live in a country with free speech. Frankie Boyle, Danny Baker, Jo Brand, et al and all the morons who laugh at their "jokes" show themselves as the t0ssers they really are. Ban freedom of speech and what next? If they outrage you... ignore them. |

no action being taken by police

Free speech for obvious reasons must have restrictions.
Inciting violence is one of them, a nonsense to think otherwise. |

Golden - This so called Free speech you are harping on about - what does it mean??? As aka has highlighted above it doesn't give one the right just to say anything.

We have to wait quietly for the next burst of hysteria from the left about offence for it to be taken seriously by the media.

Inappropriate humour..surely everyone can see that....she was not telling people to actually do this
Probably best she drops this line from her act. |

I once watched the Chuckle Brothers (RIP Barry), afterwards I had an overwhelming urge to go and push a piano over the foot of my local MP.
But then I realised it was just a comedy show and not a terrorist training video. |
|
By:
To be fair to my local MP he was very forgiving about what I did to his foot - but he still bares a grudge against my grandad for smashing up his chandeliers.

@TM
Safe to say you should leave the humour to Jo Brand. |
|
By:
Yeah - Alf Garnet more your cup of tea I would imagine.

By:
Tasteless comments by Brand but just as it is ludicrous to suggest they will send followers out to follow the word many twitter campaigns have ruined careers after the liberal hysteria has been into overdrive. Perhaps we all need to take a step back.
|
|
By:
think you've about summed it up treetop.
Tasteless comments |
|
By:
If suggesting throwing acid over someone is okay and just tasteless where do you draw the line?
Would it be okay to suggest shooting someone to shut them up? Or giving them a good kicking. Was irresponsible and should see her finished with the BBC. |
|
By:
BBC have already said she ll be back on air next Friday,a spokesman called her part of the R4 family.one rule for their mates a different one for others.

The hypocrisy of the BBC is disgusting.
Have a guess in which newspaper they regularly advertise for employees more than any other? Yep, that’s correct, The Guardian. Anyone who claims that the BBC isn’t ultra left wing is either a liar or a fool. |
|
By:
do you think the BBC is pro-Corbyn, Torque?

and that's the editorial stance, not a couple of comedians on some shows views
