Whatever one’s moral views on including LGBT Studies on the school curriculum, I’m intrigued to hear how the subject could possibly fill a year’s worth of lessons.

Schools across England have received letters opposing the teaching of relationships and sex education (RSE) and LGBT equality, the BBC has learned.
Protests started in Birmingham and letters, predominantly from conservative Muslims, have been sent to a number of schools elsewhere. Imagine the Carry on 20 years down the Line When we have 15 million Followers in the Country , I would not favour being Gay living in the Wrong area |

I don't think this is a suitable topic for primary school kids.
Secondary school if at all. Personally I think its yet another item being forced on us by the pc brigade. Maybe that would be an idea if they need more subjects. How to avoid being a self righteous prat. |

Bloody cheek! What's wrong with educating school children about LGBT? The more knowledge a child can acquire on a matter the more likely that child will be able to make a sensible, informed and correct decision on the matter. Why other communities did not object only this minority group?
They cannot and must not be allowed to pick and choose what they like and/or acceptable to be taught in schools of their adopted country; given an inch, they demand a foot - no other minority communities display this selfish, insecure and insular mindset. Utter, utter piss-taking of the highest level, I believe. |

I am not thast keen on either side in this argument
But Muslim schools must abide by law. Children will need teaching some time on LBGTQ issues, in an informative way No presure applied for or against, but children do need to learn about the society they will grow up in. So they can make their own choices in time |

Actually kids learn a lot more about this outside of school now.
They only need to read, listen to or watch our media. Perhaps tell them to keep an open mind, they can do what they like when they leave school now anyway. Plus their own instincts will guide them anyway I think our society as a whole overplays sex now. Sex never did me much good. I wish it did not exist. |

Not sure that the Islams have a valid case against the teaching of sex education within schools . They teach their own from a very young age about the scriptures of the manual many of which relate to this subject . I think their problem is that the tolerance with which these matters are approached within schools contradicts the lack of tolerance which is taught within mosques and madrasses .
It must be quite a dilemma to be told on one hand that same sex relationships are to be punished by death by throwing homosexuals from the top of a tall structure and on the other that such relationships are perfectly legal and a matter of personal choice . |

This has put the cat amongst the pigeons.
A clash of this kind's been coming for some time. I recall the case of a Christian couple that ran a hotel, and put two male guests in separate rooms because they were gay. The following court action for discrimination brought by the gay couple ruled in favour of the gays. This is similar, except they're not dealing now with Christians who are prepared to accept the rule of the law over their faith. Fascinating stuff, this could develop into something very big indeed. |

This really depends what country we are in. In our country they are a matter of personal choice. Even if some of us may feel the need to throw some of them off a tall structure, we are not allowed to do it. These children need to be told what is allowed in this country by civil law, if their parents will not tell them this, only my imo |

Pretty poor show from all sides putting kids in the firing line.
It is not sex education. The books sometimes show families with two mums or two dads living together. As it happens many families in the UK have 2 mums and several dads although not usually living together! I am not sure they go into why this is so or what they do in bed. Not sure i like it myself but not exactly sure it is a problem for the kids, more a problem for us! I don't support the boycott. |
