Police say this is not terrorist related.

How do they know this?

People wanting to disrupt life can have no easier path.

You don't need to kill people in order to cause massive disruption.

A gang at Gatwick. Another at Heathrow. Ditto Stansted, Manchester and on and on.

The entire country paralysed.

But, hey ho, it's not terrorist related.

Yeah right!

Has anyone actually gone on record that they saw a drone? No smartphone videos which is odd seeing that virtually everything else gets recorded.
Whole thing is a hoax - a dress rehearsal for martial law after hard Brexit.

No smartphone images because they blocked all signals in the vicinity of the airport (at least , that's what they'll tell you - they've got it all worked out) Mischief

No one has yet suggested that this may be some pressure group opposed to Gatwick's new "expansion plans". Them having lost out to Heathrow in the last round of plans.

Do we know roughly how many of these drones have been hovering in the Gatwick Airport area this last 24 hours or so?

I can't believe that ONE alone can bring the airport to a standstill.

That's the whole point , alun . There seems to be little or no pictoral evidence of any drones .

All we know for sure is what they said in a statement within the first hour of this 'alert' . They said "Not terror related" . Draw your own conclusions on that Confused

I can't BELIEVE this is still going on. How hard can it be to dot people around (ideally covertly to catchthe bu66er) to watch for where it comes from and where it goes back to?

I don't get it!

I find it incredible that our military capability does not include the option of flying alongside these bits of Meccano and then shoot them down.

What height is it at? Shotguns don't have a huge range, can a farmer not be stuck on the back of a land rover??? The local clay pigeon team be offered a cash prize for nailing it?

It's embarassing we can't deal with this. As I said earlier you can forgive it when it first happened but to be rolling
on for more than 24 hours in a 1st world country is just humiliating as a nation.

It's not putting a man on the moon, you have a defined relatively small area of the country and a police force and an army to call on.
It doesn't teleport, it comes from somewhere on the ground and goes to somewhere to be picked up!

Apparently they couldn't send the number of officers that they would have ideally deployed because most of the available Met officers are currently studying CCTV footage of the EFL Cup quarter-final in an effort to identify the Emirates bottle thrower and that crime has precedence !

I thought that was an option as well, unless the thing is hovering at such a height it makes the clay pigeon guns ineffective.

How close is gatwick to the sea? The radar on the latest class of destroyers can apparently track something insane like a cricket ball moving at speed miles away. Do the RAF not have portable kits even a fraction that good.

Maybe it's all a government ploy to make the British authorities appear so incompetent that the other member states of the EU no longer wish to be associated with such a bumbling , inept neighbour that they will happily part with £39bn of their own money just to be shot of us Cool
