After doing nothing they had to be seen to be doing something and go on a fishing expedition (or were triggered by a person who does not like someone into model aircraft etc - and flew over the estate) - so were fitted up.  Have our marvelous police force ever done anything like this before.
BEWARE EVER BEING INNOCENT - they will get you if you don't fit in the right box.

Coincidence ? ? ?

The airport authorities are the chief culprits for this farce. The police were called in too late while the Government ignored the whole thing for 24 hours. There are so many conflicting stories. One day there was a drone circling the airport control tower, next day "we are not sure there ever was a drone". someone is lying and we need to know who. Was the whole story dreamed up by eco warriors on the staff of the airport to cause disruption when there was never any threat? As for the guy who was arrested, if the police had made one phone call to his employer, his perfect alibi would have been known in 10 minutes and verified in 20.

Sadly this whole debacle looks like a massive cover up and the best place to start looking for the perpetrators is within the confines of the Gatwick Airport management team.

As i stated previously it looks to me as if this whole fiasco was set up to divert and deflect  the blame away from the real issue which has been suppressed ATM !!!

This is a PR exercise which has gone horridly wrong.

Bingo!!

Strange how May was getting battered along with her party and then this happens and she's vanished from all news headlines

The media are filth and people need to get it in their heads they need to be shut down, not "defunded" but shut down permanently

Not fit for purpose

I'm sorry but a drone (a ghost one at that) doesn't bring an airport to its knees Laugh

They had Birmingham at it yesterday as well, just to take the attention away from Gatwick

Hopefully one day people finally wake up ffs

how come this innocent couple get their pics plastered all over the place WHEN arrested???  Yet, in Manchester, two MEN apparently caught for rape of a woman are not??  Declared as an isolated case.  Why would the polis say that?  What does it imply.    Strange isn't it.

Panaroma doc yesterday about this incident and associated news story
.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-47919680

Although there were >100 reported sightings according to the airport there are still no verifiable photos or video and no evidence of any electronic detection.  Not even any witnesses presented.

Airport insistent there was a rogue drone and Sussex plod thinking it may well have been an inside job.  Given that the police had their own drones up to investigate a rogue drone isn't it likely that many sightings could be of the police drones ?

I'm no expert but would a little plastic drone really hurt a plane if they hit it?

"Out of 115 eye witnesses who reported drone sightings all but six of them were professionals" - Chris Woodroofe , Gatwick's chief operating officer .

Therefore 109 eye witnesses work for either the government (police officers) or Gatwick (members of 'my' team) . Hardly a qualification as independant witnesses bearing in mind they are the very individuals who would have been required to have been an intrinsic part of any cover up .

Absolutely ! The truth regarding this whole episode can be found further up this thread . I still stand by my original observations and I'm sure many others who held a similar view at the time still stand by theirs .

One thing is for sure...some1 somewhere has made a right pretty penny on the rush job at Gatwick and Heathrow to I shall the military grade anti drone systems ...the cost of which has doubtless run I to millions....now maybe I am being a little bit sceptical here but can you think of the best plan to raise awareness about the potential necessity of having said equipment ?????

The stakes are high in  global perception management

The drone attack that brought Gatwick airport to a standstill last December could have been an “inside job”, according to police, who said the perpetrator may have been operating the drone from within the airport.

Sussex police told BBC Panorama that the fact an insider may have been behind the attack was “treated as a credible line of enquiry from the earliest stages of the police response”.

Gatwick’s chief operating officer, Chris Woodroofe, believes the perpetrator was familiar with the airport’s operational procedures and had a clear view of the runway or possibly infiltrated its communication network.

“It was clear that the drone operators had a link into what was going on at the airport,” he told Panorama, in his first interview since the incident.

He said the culprit had carefully picked a drone that would remain undetected by the airport’s DJI Aeroscope detection system being tested at the time.

Between 19 and 21 December last year, Gatwick airport faced widespread chaos after a drone was spotted hovering above the runway, causing more than 140,000 passengers to face flight delays and cancellations.

Despite a massive police operation and a £50,000 reward, police were unable to find the culprit. Sussex police said the investigation was continuing but it expected it to take “some months to complete”.

Woodroofe, who oversaw the airport’s response to the drone attack, described the incident as malicious and criminal. He dismissed criticism that airport staff overreacted at the time and said it was protocol to close the runway if a drone is present.

“There is absolutely nothing that I would do differently when I look back at the incident, because, ultimately, my No 1 priority has to be to maintain the safety of our passengers, and that’s what we did,” Woodroofe said. “And it was terrible that 140,000 people’s journeys were disrupted, but everyone was safe.”

Gatwick has since invested £5m on anti-drone equipment since the attack, which includes two sets of the AUDS (Anti UAV defence system) anti-drone system made by a consortium of three British companies.

Woodroofe said he is confident the airport is now much more protected, with new state-of-the-art technology that can better spot an attack. “We would know the drone was arriving on site and we’d know where that drone had come from, where it was going to and we’d have a much better chance of catching the perpetrator,” he said.

^ still as confused as ever , any comments from our chit chat ‘ I do the research expert ‘ John Henry .....

The more research you carry out yourself for yourself presents you with the ability to sniff out the bullshyte. That is all this really is.

It also helps you to identify a complete c**t which in some cases ( ie ) ifc1971 It doesn't necessarily take much working out.

The biggest clue they give you is the amount of posts they put up and on how many varied subjects they offer them in. Summed up simply as A surefire C**t of all threads, master of none.

Enjoy the rest of your day !

Nothing much from lfc1971 in way of an update ... Its good progress ... I feel sure he will come back .. Lets see
