Someone clearly got a grievance about something (the proposed use of Gatwick's 'emergency runway' for scheduled ops, perhaps?)... |

it should be standard practice to shoot them down when first seen, rather than the ridiculousness of the ensuing chaos that affected 10,000 people, all the airlines, the money is cost everyone in hotels, food etc and the frantic rescheduling if at all, all because of one drone, couldn't make it up, makes UK seem an absolute laughing stock.

Police marksmen armed with Heckler & Koch HK417 sniper rifles have been stationed on the perimeter of Gatwick Airport as they prepare to shoot down any drones that buzz the runway.....pity its 18 hours to late

That sounds very dangerous unless they can get right under it shooting virtually straight up. Firing at any properly sideways trajectory into the air is extremely dangerous unless you know what's a few miles that direction, if you shoot pretty STRAIGHT up it should come tumbling back down on you that would be [relatively] safe. These people you see at 3rd world weddings shooting AKs into the air at 45' to "celebrate" don't seem to understand what goes up must come down! Major airport gets shut by drones and nobody has any pics or video of these things ? If there's no planes flying then they might as well get Kay Burley up in the Sky copter so at least we might see something
