He should apologise for not addressing the subject sooner . As Home Secretary he was in a powerful position within the government . Now , as a humble backbencher he is just another voice in the wilderness . |

Can you understand why some people might be uncomfortable if they GP saw them with the full face covered and their eyes behind a veil? Do you think people have the right to say they would rather not be in that situation. Of course. Some people are ignorant. Some can be judgmental or, hell, just downright racist. So yes, they might feel uncomfortable. ........... If I wear sandals they must be open toed, anything between the toes makes me feel uncomfortable. Racist could not apply here, but does this make me ignorant or judgemental? No, it just means they make me feel uncomfortable. You cannot make anyone like something. At best you can force them to tolerate it, until they've had enough. |

Heard most of the transcipt on this interview on BBC radio2 dinner time, actually nothing to apologise for, would have thought more of him if he'd actually said Ban The Burkha!

Various issues with the way they dress.
One main one for me is that domestic violence is sadly prelevant in all cultures. With Muslim women covered from head to toe, how can any friend,neighbour, or stranger ever see their demeanour or worse, bruises? I doubt if there are any domestic abuse stats within the Muslim community. With misogyny central to Islam, the complete head covering is a licence for abusers to continue.  I notice the snowflakes are more offended by Bojo's words than the appalling discrimination shown to women within Islam across the Muslim world. |

Well done Boris for bringing this out in the open and giving us the go ahead to discuss the issue without immediately being labeled a racist.When I've visited parts of this country i've had to remind myself i'm not dreaming that i've been transported back in time to some sh it country in the 14th century.This sort of outfit shouldn't be allowed full stop.

On the news they brought out a couple of hijab wearers to tell us boris was wrong. I noticed that even though only their eyes were visible...they were made up with make up. Poor f ookers don't know up from down they can't seemingly even get their own logic in order. Why would a woman fight to wear a veil, and at the same time artificially beautify their only exposed part? |

He ridiculed her appearance, not her religion or race. It is called free speech, remember what that is? I loathe 'high fashion' and think people, mainly women - including Theresa May, who follow it and spend thousands on it cannot be very intelligent. When I see the models on the catwalk, my main thought is 'you cannot be serious', apologies to McEnroe. They look ridiculous, so does this mean I cannot call them that? |
