Simply to use it as a label ! Proven as the most effective method of shutting down reasoned debate . Give someone a label and say "I'm not talking to you cos you're a .....ist" . Easy .

Well, I've just put it up a second time IT. If Conservatives identify as Right, then those to the Right of the main body of Conservatives may accurately be described as Far-Right.

What's your problem?

Labelling is useful for identification, Reynard.

All politicians adopt popular policies, to make themselves popular.

What gives away someone of the Far-Right?

Far is defines as extreme . Just because an individual is more 'right' than , say for example , a moderate conservative it doesn't automatically suggest that their views are extreme . It simply means that their views differ from the mainstream conservative policy (whatever that is) .

Put simply : If the conservatives are , on a scale of 1-10 (where 'Nazi' = 10) of 'rightness' a 3 , for example , somebody who holds an opinion that is further to the right may be a 4 or a 5 or a 6 . You can't just assume they are a 10 without having a reasoned debate regarding their views . But rather than have a reasoned and rational debate they are automatically given a 10 and castigated before they can express their opinion !

UB I have told you that far right is often associated with fascism, racism and Nazism. Is that what you really mean when you say far-right. You do mean someone who is conservative in their thinking? Or do you not know what you mean?

We would describe figures such as Rees-Mogg and Farage as Far-Right, not Nazi or fascist. Or else we would describe them as Nazi or fascist. Ok?

The Far-Right should embrace their identity, rather than dream up nonsense labels like "Centrist."

So the phrase 'far-right' covers a wide range of right-wing thinking ranging from 'slightly to the right of  to 'Nazi , Facist etc' .
Surely it would help if you (or WE , whoever 'we' is) could come up with a few new labels in order to assist with the differentiation between Nigel Farage and Adolf Hitler !

hey shortbread!!!   wot about Labourites who think the same about the comments from 'Burka Boris' are they now alt right etc or whatever the new label is.

you progressives are the very devil with your attempts to re-write history or re-writing the rules

*slightly to the right of conservative*
By:

When: 09 Aug 18 14:57
there's loads of Labour voters and even members who agree with 'Burka Boris' and voted brexit etc and are opposed to current immigration set up  which bit of the alt right do they fit into

I think progressives like biscuit crumbs is getting in a tangle

So UB has Tommy Robinson slightly to the right of conservative but not a Nazi, a racist or a fascist?

Not getting in a tangle , just spouting the usual nonsense without the ability to discuss or define .
If it wasn't so serious ..........................

IT , Nazi and Facist are broadly speaking political stances . Racism is not exclusive to the 'far-right' . As moisok said there are plenty of labour voters who hold opinions which are all to branded as racist , such as Brexit and views relating to the wearing of Burkas etc.

I'll have a think about that, Reynard.
You want a sort of richter-scale applied to these figures?
I may need some help with that.
Maybe Jed can help. Obviously a libertarian who nevertheless cast a token vote for Ed Milliband scores lower than someone who promises to burn your house down.
By:

When: 09 Aug 18 15:05
No , I don't want a f*kin Richter Scale . I just want an end to all these ridiculous labels which do nothing to help define the political views held by an individual . This phrase 'far-right' is being overused by people who have little or no knowledge of its definition , and when asked to differentiate they come out with a load of rubbish about the measurement of earthquakes ffs !

2. Adjective. belonging to or representing the views of the extreme right wing of a political party or group.
3. Suck it up.

I will be more than happy to discuss this topic when you have something to say other than the usual rhetoric .

For example : you have just posted something that , judging by your earlier posts , defines Nigel Farage and Jacob Rees-Mogg as 'extreme right wing' .
Please either retract that or come up with something that vaguely resembles an intelligent definition .
Thanks , Reynard

Certainly I would describe both as extreme right wing, Reynard.
What, you think we were all taken in by Rees-Mogg's concern for the wretched masses' access to cheap-footwear?

^

A leftist stands for social justice, more state ownership, higher taxes for the rich, diversity for the sake of it and usually open borders.

The far left stand for communism, ownership of the means of production by the 'people', diversity and open borders.

UB cannot define what 'far-right' means and what people he defines as such stand for.

If that's your definition, you are using it very loosely and plain wrong in a lot of cases.
By:

Maybe therefore it would be the wise thing to refrain from using it.

I cannot believe that I've offered to have a reasoned debate with someone who :-

a) Labels Jacob Rees-Mogg as an extremist of the right-wing variety ,
b) Uses the phrase "Suck it up" as a bona-fide bullet point !

However I'll give it a go ......

That was always a scam. The EU already has zero tariffs with many of the poorest countries around, for all products except arms. For one reason or another, however, the imports that our companies do, remain to be raw products (which they then turn into industrial products and sell the poor countries....)

Tariffs ain't the problem.

You never did answer, IT. As you plainly don't get out much, where do you go for your views online?
