He hadn't been back to Russia in a long time according to the media, so he was no longer spying, Russia let him go years ago in a swap deal so they didn't see him as a threat, yet they've tried to kill him years later when he's a old man who's only vice was buying scratch cards?

Makes no sense but let the media carry on paining a narrative

Portillo had an interesting thought last night -  that the Russians are (or believe they are) currently suffering from successful spies in their midst, and this is a deliberate message to them and anyone thinking of spying on them what their fate will be.

I'm no fan of the Russians, kincsem. but this makes no sense, why would the Russians knock off a retired spy, esp when they had better opportunities when he was actually a young spy.

Either scenario from JC and Trilby could be right.
Only other option I've heard that sounded plausible was an old score being settled.

Just reading about the deaths of Boris and Badri on Wiki

On 23 March 2013, Berezovsky was found dead at his home, Titness Park, at Sunninghill, near Ascot in Berkshire.[28] His body was found by a bodyguard in a locked bathroom, with a ligature around his neck.[213][214][215] His death was announced in a post on Facebook by his son-in-law. Alexander Dobrovinsky, a lawyer who had represented Berezovsky, wrote that he may have committed suicide,[216] adding that Berezovsky had fallen into debt after losing a protracted lawsuit against Roman Abramovich, and had spent the final few months of his life selling his possessions to cover his court costs.[217] Berezovsky was also said to have recently been depressed and to have isolated himself from friends.[218][219] He reportedly suffered from depression and was taking antidepressant drugs; a day prior to his death he told a reporter in London that he had nothing left to live for.[220]

When Berezovsky's death became known, there was speculation by mainstream British news media that Moscow might be somehow involved.[221] The Thames Valley Police classified his death as "unexplained" and launched a formal investigation into the circumstances behind it. Specialists in chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear materials were deployed to Berezovsky's home as a "precaution".[217] These specialists later "found nothing of concern".[222]

A post-mortem examination carried out by the Home Office pathologist found the cause of death was consistent with hanging and there was nothing pointing to a violent struggle.[29][223] At the March 2014 inquest into the death, however, Berezovsky's daughter Elizaveta introduced a report by German pathologist Bern Brinkmann, whom she had shared the autopsy photos with, noting that the ligature mark on her father's neck was circular rather than V-shaped as is commonly the case with hanging victims, and called the coroner's attention to a statement by one of the responding paramedics who found it strange that Berezovsky's face was purple, rather than pale as hanging victims usually are. The body also had a fresh wound on the back of the head and a fractured rib (injuries police believed Berezovsky could have suffered in the process of falling as he hanged himself). Elsewhere in the house, an unidentified fingerprint was found on the shower, and one paramedic's radiation alarm sounded as he entered.[224]

Following the inquest the coroner, Mr Peter Bedford, recorded an open verdict commenting, "I am not saying Mr Berezovsky took his own life, I am not saying Mr Berezovsky was unlawfully killed. What I am saying is that the burden of proof sets such a high standard it is impossible for me to say." He specifically cited the Brinkmann report as casting reasonable doubt on the suicide theory, even through Brinkmann had not been able to personally examine the body and could not be considered impartial.[30]

Berezovsky was buried on 8 May 2013 in a private ceremony at Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey. The burial timing had been changed on several occasions to try to avoid interest from the Russian media.[1]

Patarkatsishvili, aged 52, collapsed at Downside Manor, his mansion in Leatherhead, Surrey, England on February 12, 2008 at 10.45 pm. Ambulance crew members tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead at 10.52 pm.[3] As in any other case of unexpected death, Surrey police treated the case as "suspicious" and launched an official investigation.[64]

The businessman spent his last day in the City of London office of international law firm Debevoise and Plimpton, meeting his business partner[65] Boris Berezovsky, his spokesperson Lord Bell and his lawyer Lord Goldsmith QC, as well as fellow exiles, the Russians Nikolai Glushkov and Yuli Dubov[66] From the City he left for Down Street, Mayfair, to visit Berezovsky's office,[67] and at 7.00 pm was returned to Leatherhead with his Maybach. Shortly after dining, Patarkatsishvili told his family he felt unwell and went upstairs to his bedroom where he was found unconscious after a heart attack.[68]

Preliminary reports indicated a heart attack as the cause of death.[69] According to the first post-mortem tests, the death of Patarkatsishvili appeared to have been from natural cardiac-related causes. According to the pathologist Ashley Fegan-Earl, he could identify a "severity that could have resulted in a sudden and unexplained collapse and death at any time." He also concluded that chest pain that Patarkatsishvili had had and a sudden collapse "were consistent with death due to coronary heart diseases."[70] Patarkatsishvili's father Shalva Patarkatsishvili also died of a heart attack at an early age of 48. The businessman had no history of illness but was reported to have led an unhealthy lifestyle, smoking excessively and taking no exercise. According to Lord Bell, "he [Badri] always looked 10 years older than he was."[71] However, theories of a possible assassination were considered seriously by some. "[A] number of compounds known to be used by the former KGB can induce heart failure, but leave virtually no trace. One is sodium fluoroacetate, a fine white powder derived from pesticide."[72] The British police checked Patarkatishvili's Surrey mansion for radioactive elements but reportedly found none.[73]

FIVE DAYS after alledgedl poisoning occurred Public told there is nothing to worry about.
What nonsense.
The bench the couple were found collapsed on, rather than being sealed and transported away if it was considered to be contaminated,  was instead, covered by a tent and some police tape put around it. The tent proceeded to blow open in the wind.
Special germ warfare suited individuals subsequently filmed investigating the bench.
Utter nonsense.

Apparently this sort of chemical is so complicated that it can't be manufactured by individuals- must be the state, Only several countries capable-USA, UK, France, North Diarrhoea and Israel. Not a German war criminal so that lets out Israel. Not a crime of passion, so not France. Not a N. Diarrhoean so not ND. USA looking elsewhere so not USA. UK wouldn't sh*t on its own soil, so it must be the Russkies. Who can blame them. This guy sold out his country for money. Unlike the UK, the Reds don't give traitors benefits and houses in which to live!

It can be an individual in my opinion, any top notch chemical expert could knock up something like that easily, but this is all very fishy in a sense they are quickly blaming Russia and no one is allowed to even ask questions. Smells of a set up.

Quite final, Saddo, and very cavelier, if you don't mind my saying. There will be repercussions, as there were with Litvenenko, albeit mild. You cannot simply wave the hand at murder. The last two culprits in the Litvenenko case were identified, let alone not tried, but they were proved. Now come to your senses, Saddo. By the way, you must be knocking on a bit now, and let's hope the dementia has started early in your seventies.
