A new charity sex scandal erupted last night after it emerged that the husband of murdered Labour MP Jo Cox was once accused of groping a senior US government official.
The woman reported Brendan Cox to American police, claiming he assaulted her late at night at Harvard University – although Mr Cox strongly denies the allegation.
Her complaint came soon after Mr Cox quit as a senior executive with the Save The Children in 2015 following separate claims of inappropriate behaviour towards staff.

Anyone can have an allegation made against them. This post-Weinstein world where people are free to make allegations on social media etc right left and centre can ruin innocent people. |

IT - this was before Weinstein. The woman in question is choosing to remain anonymous after going to the police. Many of Weinstein's alleged victims have yet to contact Plod.

IT is missing the point in that people are no longer innocent until proven guilty, and this is supported and encouraged by certain politically correct people, now I don't know if cox is one of these types or not.

but the whole issue around the nasty cox murder has been used by certain elements to give the knuckle draggers a damn good thrashing while holding the moral high ground - it would appear some do not hold that moral high ground

It is a very difficult question.
But should mere accusations be published? Maybe if they had at times like Savile he could have been stopped as others could have come forward. But at the same time innocent people can be accused who have done nothing wrong. What I find amazing is that famous people think they can get away with things. Why would you make a big issue of tolerance and womens rights if you were already in the papers for alleged mis-conduct? It must take alot of balls to put your head above the parapet when you know this information is out there waiting to come out whenever the press will find it useful. |

The charities watchdog has demanded an urgent clarification from Oxfam after allegations that the charity covered up an inquiry into whether its staff used sex workers in Haiti during a 2011 post-earthquake relief effort. The Charities Commission said on Saturday it had received a report from Oxfam in August 2011 about an ongoing internal investigation into allegations of misconduct by Haiti programme staff members, including claims of inappropriate sexual behaviour, bullying, harassment and the intimidation of staff. “The report to us stated there had been no allegations, or evidence, of any abuse of beneficiaries. It also made no mention of any potential sexual crimes involving minors,” the commission said. “Our approach to this matter would have been different had the full details that have been reported been disclosed to us at the time. |
