Why is it that every time there's a terrorist attack, the government use it as an excuse to clamp down on our civil liberties?

What I can't understand is why didn't the bucket (which appears to be plastic) burn?

The Lidl bag ist still virtually intact as well.

We're told there's a bomb in the bucket which failed to detonate. The bucket is seen smoking with the odd flame. Yet someone goes up to it and photographs it!!

Superficial burns from initial flash; blood from the stampede to get out.

@detraveller has a point but I do not know how much comfort it is. Instead of skilled and equipped terrorists we have a bunch of idiots who thought Four Lions was a training film. Trouble is, there are an awful lot of idiots out there with access to cars and kitchen knives.

@Get me a drink -- Yes, something doesn't look right here.

What doesn't look right is it was not a suicide bomb. That would be a worrying new development (assuming it is the usual AA mob and not a completely new set of terrorists fighting for a free Brexit or some such).

Well if that is so all the more reason to listen to Trump for some good advice.

I think ' Trump ' and ' good advice ' could be an oxymoron.

It's stated the ' bomb ' failed to detonate ?
What was ' left ' in the bucket/Lidl bag then , that was ' unexploded  ' ?

May wants this ramped up as much as possible. It detracts public attention from the utter mess the Tories are making of this country.

You mean it distracts attention from Boris's leadership bid.

The German supermarket chain Lidl has been caught removing the crosses from a picture of a Greek island used to sell cheese. The packaging on its “Greek” range of foods shows the gorgeous blue-domed churches of the island of Santorini – but only their domes. The crosses that in real life surmount them have been digitally excised.

I think the Supermarket of Peace has some questions to answer.

No. Lidl has absolutely nothing to answer. They must have planned for the future. European population is on the decline since how many years? Do you think any business can grow serving a declining customer base? There are new customers to be had and they are just keeping them in mind.

You'll figure out one day it's all about money and power. Until then you can keep yourself busy with such things, if it makes you happy.

It was a joke, detraveller. By "questions to answer" I was suggesting, facetiously, that Lidl was somehow going to be a target for investigation in connection with the bomb.

(Are you a native German speaker, by the way? It's just that the sentence "European population is on the decline since how many years?" reads like a literal translation of "Europäische Bevölkerung ist seit wieviel Jahren rückläufig?"; a native English speaker would say something like "European population has been on the decline for how many years?")

Apologies, if I'm wrong. I'm just curious.

Let's at least all thank our lucky stars that 'Man of Peace' (except when it comes to supporting Britain's enemies) Jeremy Corbyn isn't running the country.

He's 18 years old reportedly, and ISIS say he is their representative.   I think it's unlikely he'll be head-hunted to be the face of any well-known supermarkets.

alun - despite some triffic prices I feel obligated to boycott Lidl in future.

However, I will be stockpiling their carriers and using them as protection against Kim's nukes.

t is understood the device had a timer, but the BBC's security correspondent Frank Gardner said the bomb appeared not to have gone off properly.

Parsons Green tube station
Police have spoken to 45 witnesses so far and received 77 images and videos from the public
Had it worked as intended, it would have killed everyone around it and maimed everyone in the train carriage for life, he said.

So he must know the secrets of what was left in the bucket after the ' huge fireball '  then ??

They're all guilty Facts. May's running for cover blaming Trump, Google etc. Can't make it up.

I've no idea if this is an Islamic attack or not. Odd that the fella didn't try to blow himself up(they usually do). What I do know is that we've given succour to people who hate us and a minority of them seek our destruction.

I often don't get the hidden jokes. You got everything right. I was until 6 years ago doing copywriting work and had almost flawless English. Made quite a lot of money with it during studies. Then I left English alone and it's amazing how not staying in touch with a language can destroy the skill.
