Great to hear Jean-Michel Jarre's 'Equinoxe Part 5' being used so prominently during these championships.

They outpaced her , after dawdling for 1000 metres  , or another reason that did not quite work to plan.

Very interesting figures Poppy.
I'm surprised, looking at that, that no other country followed China's lead, by investing in boiled worms foetus  or whatever
they claimed helped their athletes to record breaking times. (It definitely wasn't drugs btw)

Unlucky for Laura Muir, pipped by a hair for a medal in the 1500m final.

People critical of her tactics but Muir was less than 0.4 seconds from winning gold against 3 superior athletes

That Makwala cost me a few quid with pulling out the 200m race, had him for top 3 and never got a run for my moneyCry

He's out of the 400 as well.Very unlucky for him and for you.Surely should be money back without even competing in the event.Fair enough the 400 .

What a fu$kin shambles athletics is.He wanted to run last night ,thought he was running tonight and at 4-45pm the IAAF tell him he's not running.

seriously this looks really dodgy

they've pulled him out of both events which now favour Van Niekerk

AND they moved Van Niekerk into an easier heat when he was initially in a more difficult heat, he himself said that neither he or his team requested a heat change.

Looks like IAAF really want him to win, how can you remove  an athlete on medical grounds when he hasn't even been tested?

All bets stand run or not......really don't think these rules are fair, anyone with insider knowledge could make a few bob on these markets. It wouldn't be so bad if he ran in the heats and pulled up, but too not even get a run and you've lost, seems like a crap rule to me. Will need to pay more attention to these market rules in future.

This is so embarrassing...Every night these pundits are questioning the very sport they represent... scandal, doping, cheating, this theory, that theory, unanswered questions, no statements...beyond viable imo and laughing stock of the world (athletics not the pundits!)

Evening stroodle, up for another night of betting on trainers?!
Dafne Schippers goes in the 200m Love My main bet is that she is the only one I watch in the race.

Dafne in first heat, just had a quick look at the betting, looks like your Dafne is fancied to do well. I'm plumping for Shaunae for this event.

Surely you're joking if you mean BBC?

They're still going on about BBC Golden Girl Laura Muir. It's beyond comprehension.

I'm needing some winners after that Makwala nonsense, just added Jereem Richards for top 3 in the mens 200. None of you athletics sharks got any dark horses for future events?

Semenya seems almost unbeatable in the 800 meters unless the curse of 'doubling up' strikes again.

Wouldn't Semenya be a bit more streamlined if she wore bikini style bottoms instead of what look like tennis player's shorts?
